Premier League Still a Massive Draw After English Football Returns
The Premier League is still a massive hit for English sports fans, despite the all-encompassing impact of COVID-19 on everyday life in the UK.
A survey of over 1,000 Brits conducted by Freebets.com in September 2020 showed that some 60% of respondents were still significantly emotionally invested in their team even during these turbulent times.
The results also illustrated how viewers have not been put off by the absence of fans at matches, with almost 60% of people saying they enjoyed or didn’t mind what has become the new normal.

Around 35% said they would want every fan to be required to wear a mask while 27% expected social distancing measures to be applied.
The results also indicated fans’ attitudes towards current football trends, with over 50% demanding clearer standards when it comes to VAR and almost a quarter saying they would like to see a playoff series of top and bottom teams integrated into the upcoming season.
Football still dominates for a large section of sports fans – around 50% said they check football news at least once a day with almost half of them refreshing their favourite footie sites multiple times every day.
