Charlie Hall Chase Tips
For many jumps racing fans, the Charlie Hall Chase signifies the start of the National Hunt season, and it’s a highlight of the Autumn.
Our expert tipster Alan Kelly has his Charlie Hall Chase selection below.
3:00pm Wetherby - Bravemansgame
I must admit that the Lucinda Russell-trained Ahoy Senor is a favourite of mine. When the Dylan Thomas gelding gets into a nice rhythm up front, it takes a top-class chaser to get past him, that horse being Shishkin in the Aintree Bowl at the Grand National meeting after Ahoy Senor looked home and hosed jumping two out.
The big negative regarding Derek Fox’s mount, however, is his record first time out, which is pretty poor, including when beaten some 40 lengths in this race last year. Gold Cup runner-up BRAVEMANSGAME, on the other hand, has an excellent record following a break and can repeat his comfortable victory in this race 12 months ago and land a second Charlie Hall Chase. I expect the race-fit Irish challenger Gentlemansgame to cause the favourite most problems.
