Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Betting Tips & Stats Guide

When & Where Is The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe?

The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is the most prestigious all-aged horse race run annually at Longchamp Racecourse in Paris.

It is seen as the top event in middle-distance flat racing and attracts horses from countries including the UK, Ireland, France, and Japan, battling to be crowned champion.

The Arc is traditionally run on the first Sunday in October and is the feature race on a card packed with Group 1 action.

First run in 1920, the Arc, the race continues to be one of the highlights of the flat horse racing season and attracts a huge crowd, with many fans making the trip over from the UK.

It’s a race that has been won by some of the greats of flat racing, and last year’s race saw the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Alpinista taking the win under jockey Luke Morris.

Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Runner’s & Odds

The current favourite for the 2023 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is the unbeaten Ace Impact. Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, the son of Cracksman remains unbeaten, having won all five of his career starts, including the Prix du Jockey Club.

Hukum is also set to head to Longchamp for trainer Owen Burrows after a stylish victory in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, and he’s the current second favourite in the betting.

A good draw at Longchamp is vital - the most coveted numbers are the lowest ones, next to the rail, with the horses drawn into them having the shortest distance to travel.

The most successful number since 1980 is 2, followed very closely by 6, which is the stall Alpinista was victorious in last year’s race, and the stall draw for this year’s race will be on 28 September.

The Arc is the primary focus on Sunday, but five other Group 1 contests are also taking place, including the Prix De L’Abbaye and the Prix De L’Opera.
