If the German locals are sick of Euro 2024 already, then a trip to the west of Germany could be the perfect tonic as the stars of the PDC align for the eighth PDC European Tour event of the 2024 season.
Luke Littler, Gary Anderson, Martin Schindler, Luke Humphries, Josh Rock and Rob Cross are just some of the players to have enjoyed wins so far this season in European Tour events, and Schindler especially will be looking to repeat that form as he heads home to Germany.
It’s a big draw of 48 players with a prize fund of £175,000 this weekend, with play running from Friday 21st June-Sunday 23rd June inside the Ostermann-Arena.
From the original list of entries, Gary Anderson, Luke Littler, Nathan Aspinall, Jonny Clayton and Ryan Joyce have withdrawn from the event, and have been replaced by Ritchie Edhouse, Kevin Doets, Dylan Slevin, Jamie Hughes & Ryan Meikle from the reserve List, with Gian van Veen replacing Anderson as a seed.

With his namesake out of the running in Leverkusen, Luke Humphries is now the favourite to add to his growing title collection this weekend.
World No.1 and reigning world champion Humphries has mainly dropped losses to Luke Littler and Rob Cross in 2024, so will be grateful of avoiding both until the semi-final stages at the earliest (vs. Rob Cross).
The experience of Raymond van Barneveld or Krzysztof Ratajski in the second round could cause “Cool Hand” a few reasons to tremor, but overall, the youngster will be confident in knowing that he is playing the best darts on tour at a consistent level at present.
Gerwyn Price is 8/1 with bet365 to win the 2024 European Darts Open
Reigning champion Gerwyn Price has found a little bit of form on the tour following a disappointing run at the Premier League.
The Welshman won the Nordic Darts Masters at the start of June and lost be a single leg in the final of the US Darts Masters thanks to an impressive performance from Rob Cross.
Price seems to fair better in these weekend events than during the slog of a Premier League campaign, so 8/1 is well worth a look.
Chris Dobey is 33/1 with bet365 to win the 2024 European Darts Open
There are only four players in better form on the PDC Tour than Chris Dobey at the moment, and two of them (Luke Littler and Cameron Menzies) won’t be featuring in Leverkusen this weekend.
After taking time out to attend England vs Serbia in the first round of the Euros, Dobey’s tail will be up as he attempts to make his trip to Germany even more memorable.
He is seeded this weekend and finds himself in a favourable quarter of the draw, eyeing up either Stephen Bunting or Danny Noppert as possibilities in the quarter-finals if he is able to go that deep.
Dobey is a former finalist at the Danish Darts Open, but is a better player than his early exits on this Tour suggest.
Martin Schindler is 40/1 with bet365 to win the 2024 European Darts Open
Martin Schindler will be a crowd favourite in Leverkusen this weekend, and at 40/1 is too big to ignore.
He’s, arguably, in the toughest half of the draw, but has reached two semi-finals on the European Tour this season as well as winning the International Darts Open in April.
The German is up to number 23 in the world and with a bit of luck could run deep this weekend – wins over Jonny Clayton, Gerwyn Price, Chris Dobey and Joe Cullen will give him belief in the bigger matches.
