We’re in-play throughout all four quarter-finals, but in the early stages of two there is still some good value to be found.
Ronnie O’Sullivan and Stuart Bingham are tied at 4-4, while Kyren Wilson enjoys a 5-3 lead over four-time world champion John Higgins.
Let’s take a closer look at the Day 12 action.
Ronnie O’Sullivan -3.5 frames vs Stuart Bingham
Ronnie didn’t look quite right on Tuesday.
The “Rocket” was uncharacteristic in plenty of missed pots, so the fact that he starts the second session level with Stuart Bingham at 4-4 can be of great comfort to the seven-time world champion.
Bingham played well on Tuesday but perhaps took his eye off the table when O’Sullivan wasn’t at his best, failing to take advantage of the best player of all time who looked ordinary.
This race to 13 still has plenty of miles to run, and we surely won’t see the same out-of-sorts “Rocket” on Wednesday.
A -3.5 handicap says Bingham won’t get to 10 frames as O’Sullivan runs riot in an overdue purple patch.
Kyren Wilson to beat John Higgins
John Higgins looked drained on Tuesday after a late, late 13-12 finish on Monday night beating Mark Allen, so it’s no surprise he fell behind early against Kyren Wilson, eventually finishing the opening session trailing 5-3.
Wilson looks like a real dark horse in the top half of the draw. Higgins’ heroics in the second round were memorable, but they don’t suggest a player who will dominate in the following rounds.
Wilson will be disappointed to only have a two-frame lead after his dominating display on Tuesday, but there is enough value at 4/7 for him to advance into the semi-finals.
Higgins is a master, but he might need a bit more stamina than his body is willing to give him in these marathon matches.
