2025 Masters Snooker Tips, Preview & Odds
It’s Triple Crown time at the start of 2025 as the Masters returns to Ally Pally
2025 starts with a bang inside the Alexandra Palace, as the madness of the PDC Darts World Championships turns to the serene calm of the green baize.
With reigning champion Ronnie O’Sullivan’s late pull-out, the draw has opened up once again as north London’s favourite snooker son sits out a Triple Crown event.
The “Rocket’s” loss is Robbo’s gain – Neil Robertson steps into the opening round against John Higgins in a mouth-watering opener between former world and Masters champions.
Let’s take a closer look at the event that runs from Sunday 12th January until Sunday 19th January, plus our best snooker betting offers from the top online bookmakers.

2025 Masters Snooker - The Favourites
Check out the favourites to lift the trophy at the Ally Pally this week.
Judd Trump - 11/4 to win the 2025 Masters
World number one Judd Trump has already won three tournaments this season, made another couple of finals and run deep in pretty much everything else he is competed in.
No player can ever be completely safe from early round upsets in tournaments, but the “Ace in the Pack” feels the closest to proving that theory wrong with an unshakable confidence and consistency on the baize over the past 18 months.
Trump is a two-time winner here at the Masters with his last success coming in 2023, and with Ronnie O’Sullivan out of the running you can be sure that the 35-year-old will receive an excellent reception inside the Ally Pally.
He opens his campaign against the UK Championship runner-up Barry Hawkins, but will probably be happy about the side of the draw he has fallen into as the third seed.
Kyren Wilson - 11/2 to win the 2025 Masters
Reigning world champion Kyren Wilson has discovered that winning formula since bagging the big one last April.
The “Warrior” has since got his hands on the Northern Ireland Open and Xi’an Grand Prix, and now arrives in north London as the second favourite in a bid to grab his second of the Triple Crown events.
He’s a former finalist from 2018 when Mark Allen bested him 10-7 in a memorable final, and he finds himself in a favourable quarter of the draw pitted against a trio of players that aren’t exactly flying high despite their solid rankings.
Anda Zhang is first up and then the winner of Luca Brecel or Chris Wakelin; a semi-final with Judd Trump beckons if both Englishman can advance from their quarters unscathed.
Mark Selby - 7/1 to win the 2025 Masters
The golden rule of snooker: never rule Mark Selby out of a major tournament.
The “Jester from Leicester” has already been in the winners circle this season with victory at the British Open, and with three Paul Hunter trophies already in his trophy cabinet will be full of confidence heading to the Alexandra Palace.
Selby hasn’t been able to call himself a Masters champion since 2013 and in a quarter containing Ali Carter, Si Jiahui and Mark Allen he is going to have to play some of his best stuff if he is to throw value into his 7/1 pick to win a fourth.
Early exits at four of his last five ranking tournaments suggest that Selby doesn’t come flying into this event.
Neil Robertson - 7/1 to win the 2025 Masters
Neil Robertson was left delighted by the news that Ronnie O’Sullivan had withdrawn from the Masters, seeing the 17th seed thrown into the event with a first round meeting with John Higgins on Sunday afternoon.
Robertson is a dark horse here and immediately a threat despite sneaking through the back door.
He struggled for a couple of seasons on tour but is close to playing some of his best stuff again after bagging the English Open and showing well in other tournaments.
He’s a Masters champion from 2012 and you’ll be hard-pressed in finding many more players with as much big-game experience than the Australian.

Kyren Wilson to win his Quarter
As mentioned above, we like Kyren Wilson’s chances in the 4th Quarter this week.
His first round opponent, Anda Zhang, has struggled to kick on as expected since a positive 2023-24 season, and the 33-year-old world champion will fancy gliding past the Chinese player if he is able to get his hand on the table early in this clash.
Luca Brecel has fallen off a cliff in terms of form since winning the 2023 World Championship and Wilson’s 6-3 head-to-head lead over Chris Wakelin is enough to fancy him in a potential all-English quarter-final.
Neil Robertson to reach the Final
With a last-minute invite, Neil Robertson will arrive in north London with a nothing to lose attitude.
He opens the show against a familiar foe in John Higgins, and with the record books reading 16-15 to the Aussie, it’s somewhat of a coin toss on Sunday afternoon.
But if he gets through this early test, then a run to the final wouldn’t be a surprise in the slightest and 10/3 is a good price for the “Thunder from Down Under” to return to the top if the big Triple Crown events.
