2025 Welsh Open Snooker Tips, Preview & Odds
Llandudno hosts the thirteenth ranking event of the snooker season

The ranking events are ticking by this season and a trip to Llandudno, Wales offers yet another chance for the stars of the WST to pick up some crucial points and prize money.
This week’s Welsh Open signals the fourth and final Home Nations event of the season following on from the Scottish, English and Northern Ireland Opens, and so far, we’ve had a different winner in each.
Gary Wilson is the defending champion here after a dominant 9-4 win over Martin O’Donnell in last year’s final, but in and amongst a tough field, opens at 40/1 with bet365 to successfully defend his title here in 2025.
Let’s take a closer look at the event that runs from Monday 10th February until Sunday 16th February, plus our best snooker betting offers from the top online bookmakers.
2025 Welsh Open Snooker – Competition Format
There’s a stacked field in Llandudno this week, and with relatively short matches in the early stages, there are plenty of opportunities for upsets.
As the defending champion, Gary Wilson arrives as the top seed and such is the depth of the draw that there are a few amateur entrants including Dylan Emery, Joshua Cooper and Florian Nussle.
The winner bags a tasty £100,000 as well as the coveted Ray Reardon trophy.

2025 Welsh Open Snooker - The Favourites
Check out the favourites to lift the trophy in Llandudno this week.
Ronnie O'Sullivan - 5/1 to win the 2025 Welsh Open
Withdrawals have plagued the season of the “Rocket” but he arrives (hopefully) in Wales as the betting favourite at 5/1 with bet365, and it looks like we are all systems go for a tilt at the title for O’Sullivan.
Withdrawals aside, O’Sullivan’s form hasn’t been anything special this season.
He is yet to make a final and has crashed out on numerous occasions in the first round, but history will dictate that if Ronnie is entered into a tournament, then he has to be considered one of the favourites despite his form.
He will open his bid to win a fifth Welsh Open against Wales’ Jamie Clarke, and is quartered with the likes of Barry Hawkins, Mark Williams, Jack Lisowski and Chris Wakelin.
Mark Selby - 6/1 to win the 2025 Welsh Open
Fresh off of a win at the Championship League, Mark Selby is beginning to purr on the baize again.
The “Jester” hasn’t won this crown since 2008 and hasn’t got past the quarter-final since 2012.
This dubious form in Wales won’t weigh too heavy on the mind of Selby, who looks to be enjoying his snooker again as his form continues to improve tournament on tournament.
Selby’s first round match will be against Haydon Pinhey and will be eyeing up the threats of John Higgins and Mark Allen in a spicy quarter.
Kyren Wilson - 6/1 to win the 2025 Welsh Open
Kyren Wilson is the form player on the snooker tour at the moment, and with Judd Trump missing in Wales, the “Warrior” will be keen on stamping his authority on yet another tournament as the reigning world champion.
Wilson has won at the Xi’an Grand Prix, Northern Ireland Open and German Masters so far this season and has become one of the hardest players on the tour to beat into submission.
He was a finalist back in 2020 but hasn’t really threatened the Welsh Open title other than that, but arrives this year as a 6/1 shot with bet365.
Wilson’s first round match, as second seed, will be against the legendary Marco Fu.
Neil Robertson - 13/2 to win the 2025 Welsh Open
Neil Robertson is continuing to show signs that he is returning to the best version of himself and will fancy a run at the Welsh Open title.
He has already pocketed a Home Nation Series title this season at the English Open, and after a solid quarter-final run at last week’s German Masters arrives in Wales in form.
On his day, Robertson is capable of sweeping aside any player on the tour and is still considered a player to avoid in any draw.
He’s opening up against Mark Davis and finds himself in the same quarter as top seed and defending champion Gary Wilson.

Kyren Wilson to win the 4th Quarter
It’s going to take something special to stop Kyren Wilson at the moment.
His quarter is competitive, but nothing that he hasn’t seen and conquered many times already this season, with Masters champion Shaun Murphy the biggest and most obvious threat.
But Wilson has an edge to his game now where he never looks beat, and 9/4 is too good to turn down for him to reach the semi-finals for the fifth time in a ranking tournament this season.
Barry Hawkins to win the 3rd Quarter
Barry Hawkins has reached recent finals at the UK Championship and German Masters as his long and painful wait for a ranking title goes on.
We’re not saying he will break this spell in Llandudno this week, but think he is playing good enough snooker to get out of his quarter.
He’s in with the unpredictable Ronnie O’Sullivan and Jack Lisowski – so if Hawkins is able to repeat the form of last week in Berlin, he is a great look at 7/2 with bet365.
