Qin Haiyang leads the Paris 2024 Olympics betting, and assuming there are no big upsets, this does look like being a battle between him and Peaty for the gold medal.
If things go to plan, then both should qualify for the final as the fastest two, and that means being side by side in the lane draw for that race, which should create a fantastic spectacle.
Looking at recent performances, if there is one swimmer that could spring a surprise then it would be Nic Fink, and the betting suggests that as he is priced up at 8/1.
The rest of the competitors are all priced up at 20/1 or bigger, showing their chances are slim according to the bookmakers. However, if someone swims big in the heats or semi finals, then we may see their odds shrink, especially if one of the top two disappoints along the way.

Adam Peaty needs no introduction, one of the biggest names on the Team GB roster across any sport, and a man who has dominated the 100m breaststroke for many years.
He’s won gold at the last two Olympics, and was remarkably unbeaten from 2014 to 2022, during which he won those two gold medals, becoming the first British swimmer to defend a gold, and he also broke the world record time five times during that period.

He has openly said, the only reason he’s back swimming is for these Olympics, he wants to defend his title, and that he will do, putting up a big fight.
Depression, Alcoholism and having to make sacrifices at home after the birth of his son, have all troubled Peaty over the years. He’s opened up on the toughness of being an athlete, but is now ready to make a huge comeback.
It would be a remarkable story, if Peaty was to land gold, and if he’s anywhere near his best, then he has a great chance to do that.
