Aston Villa set record & more key stats from Brentford stalemate
Aston Villa welcomed Brentford to Villa Park for a Premier League meeting on Saturday afternoon for a tie they were favourites to win.
However, Unai Emery’s side blew a 2-0 lead to go 3-2 down before eventually rescuing a draw thanks to Ollie Watkins in the 80th minute. Villa remained 4th in the table after said draw and are now 6/4 with BetVictor to finish in the top-four.
Aston Villa vs Brentford key stats
After their draw with Brentford, it has been revealed, along with several other key stats, that Aston Villa have set a personal record:
- Aston Villa have never lost a home league game in any division to Brentford (P9 - W3 D6), which is the most times they have faced a side on home soil in their league history without ever tasting defeat.
- Aston Villa failed to win a Premier League home game in which they led by two or more goals for the first time since February 2022 (3-3 v Leeds United), having won each of their previous 19 such matches before today.
- Saturday was the 28th time Brentford have trailed by 2 or more goals in a Premier League game, but just the second time they have avoided defeat from such a position (also 2-2 v Leicester City in August 2022).
- Ollie Watkins’ 28 goal involvements this season (18 goals, 10 assists) is the outright most by an Aston Villa player in a single Premier League campaign. Only Christian Benteke has scored more goals in a season (19 in 2012-13)
