Najee Harris Over 58.5 Rushing Yards
The Bengals' defence has struggled throughout the season. Over their last two games, Cincinnati has conceded 69 points, suffering defeats to the Baltimore Ravens (35-34) and the Los Angeles Chargers (34-27). The Bengals are allowing 26.9 points per game (28th in the NFL).
Cincinnati concedes 129.8 rushing yards per game (20th) and 4.4 yards per carry (tied 15th). Following their bye week, the Bengals last faced the Chargers, allowing 155 rushing yards. With this in mind, our Bengals v Steelers tips begin with Pittsburgh’s lead running back, Najee Harris.
The Steelers had a bye in Week 9. Since then, Harris has accumulated 157 rushing yards across three games. However, during Weeks 6-8, Harris was dominant, amassing 322 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Harris remains the focal point of Pittsburgh’s backfield. He’s recorded at least 16 carries in five consecutive games and leads the Steelers in rushing attempts (191), rushing yards (749), and first downs on the ground (36). In six career games against Cincinnati, Harris has tallied 353 rushing yards, averaging 58.8 per game.
Joe Burrow Over 36.5 Passing Attempts
Unlike the Bengals' defence, the Steelers' defensive unit has been a dominant force throughout most of the season. Pittsburgh concedes just 16.9 points per game (3rd in the NFL), allowing 214.9 passing yards (17th) and 90.3 rushing yards (4th).
Cincinnati will face significant challenges running the ball efficiently against Pittsburgh. As a result, the Bengals will continue to rely on Joe Burrow, who is enjoying an excellent season. Burrow has amassed 3,028 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and only four interceptions to date.
The 2020 NFL Draft's No. 1 pick has attempted at least 37 passes in each of his last four games. In Week 11 against the Chargers, Burrow completed 28-of-50 attempts for 356 yards and three touchdowns. The previous week, against the Ravens, he attempted a remarkable 56 passes, finishing with 428 yards and four touchdowns.
Ja'Marr Chase Over 75.5 Receiving Yards
If the Bengals hope to overcome the Steelers and keep their playoff hopes alive, Ja’Marr Chase will need to continue his impressive run of form. Over the past five games, he has scored seven touchdowns and amassed 491 yards on 39 receptions.
This season, Chase has been a pivotal figure in the Bengals' offence, catching 73 of his 100 targets for 1,056 yards and 12 touchdowns. As Joe Burrow’s favourite target, the Steelers' secondary will face a significant challenge in containing Chase.
In his four career games against Pittsburgh, Chase has totalled 314 receiving yards. Last season, he faced the Steelers once, delivering four catches for 81 yards. Chase looks poised to surpass the 80-yard mark again this Sunday.
