Bolton v Barnsley Match Preview

It was a disappointing night on Friday for Barnsley, when their issues from the season continued, bad defending and giving away chances through their own poor play, rather than quality from the opposition.

Take nothing away from Bolton, but Barnsley gifted them a penalty after some poor defensive play, and ended the game with a piece of terrible goalkeeping that led to a goal straight from a corner.

It looks a tough, almost impossible, road back for The Tykes.

Bolton took their chances, put pressure on a poor Barnsley back line, and hold a two goal lead going into this one, and have home advantage on top, which should make things even easier.

Barnsley have no choice but to attack from the off here. They’ve got players that can hurt Bolton, no doubt about that, but the numbers they will push forward is only going to give Bolton more hope they can score themselves.

It’s over 20 games now for Barnsley, without a clean sheet, anyone who saw the game on Friday night would agree that their next seems a long way off.

That means coming here and scoring more than twice, which feels like a stretch too far.

Strange things happen in the playoffs, just ask Peterborough fans about last season, but I just can’t see it on Tuesday.

Bolton v Barnsley Predictions

My prediction for this game is that Bolton win it in 90 minutes, and obviously that means they will qualify for the final at Wembley.

I can see Barnsley scoring, but at the same time, I just can’t see them keeping a clean sheet, meaning the task in hand is just too much.

In terms of players having an impact, I thought Paris Maghoma caused Barnsley a ton of problems last week, he’s going to get a lot of space in behind full backs as Barnsley push forward tonight.

Bolton v Barnsley Betting Tips

For my main bet on the game, I like the look of a Bolton win combined with both teams to score in the game, as Barnsley push hard high up the pitch, but Bolton hold the quality to keep ahead. That is available at 11/5 with William Hill.

Secondly, for a correct score bet, don’t be surprised to see a lot of goals here, there were chances in the first game to score more, and that had four. At a massive price, I’ll take a chance on 3-2 to Bolton, available at 20/1 with bet365.

Lastly, a player I’ve mentioned already, Paris Maghoma. Barnsley can be hurt out wide, they have very high full backs that will be attacking all game here, he can have success and at 3/1 with Spreadex, he looks good on the anytime scorer market.
