Crewe Promotion Odds 10/11 after Penalty Success

From being 2-0 down after the first leg, Crewe Alexandra have somehow made it to Wembley for the League Two playoff final.

A huge turnaround, two quick away goals, and it was a night to remember for the Crewe fans that had kept faith, and made the journey north to Doncaster.

After than win, Crewe are now 10/11 with Paddy Power for promotion to League One under Lee Bell.

Crewe Promotion Odds

From as big as 5/1 before a ball was kicked in the League Two playoffs, Crewe are now just edging favouritism.

Barring a huge turnaround on Saturday evening, when MK Dons try and pull back a 3-0 loss against Crawley, it seem as though Crewe’s opponents at Wembley will be Crawley.

Of course, never say never, especially with the playoffs.

Should that happen, it would put together the two outsiders from the original playoff betting, with MK Dons being favourites, and Doncaster second favourites.

In between the two legs, when Crewe were 2-0 down, you could get odds as high as 40/1 on them to be promoted, which is certainly looking like a nice wager at this moment.

Crewe Find a Way to Get The Job Done

Over the two legs, including Friday night’s extra time period, we saw 210 minutes of football played.

For me, as a rough figure, Crewe played well and were the better team for around 40 minutes of those. The first 10 minutes in the home leg, and first 30 minutes in the second leg.

They started bright in both games, but were quickly put to bed when Doncaster found their stride in game one, whereas in game two, Crewe had more chance to shine, as Doncaster just didn’t come out of the starting gates.

But there were large parts of both games when Doncaster were the better team, putting pressure on, and looking the most likely winner.

In extra time on Friday night, Crewe looked tired, and didn’t create much at all, and while Doncaster also faded, they did have more possession and the better chances.

But when it came to penalties, Crewe were the team to come out on top, and book their place at Wembley, sparking a pitch invasion by their away supporters.

They can now sit back and relax watching the second semi final on Saturday evening, where either Crawley or MK Dons will go through and set up a Wembley meeting in just over a week.
