Eberechi Eze Euro 2024 Odds: 5/2 to make England squad
Eberechi Eze has seen his odds cut massively to 5/2 to make the England Euro 2024 squad following a superb run of form under new Crystal Palace manager, Oliver Glasner.
Ezer earned his first senior England call-up in the summer of 2023 after an impressive 2022/23 campaign with the Eagles, which saw him score 10 and assist four in 38 Premier League games.
The now 25-year-old was handed his debut by Gareth Southgate on June 16, coming off the bench for 20 minutes in a 4-0 win over Malta. This was followed by a second call-up in the September international break, which saw the winger play 19 minutes of a 3-1 victory against bitter rivals, Scotland.
Eze has been out of the England reckoning since, with Crystal Palace as a squad struggling under Roy Hodgson. However, Oliver Glasner, who took over in February, has transformed the London outfit into a side with a free-flowing attacking threat. This has boosted Eze’s performances massively and he has now scored three and assisted one in his last five outings, including a goal in Palace’s 3-1 victory versus Wolves over the weekend. In turn, Eze’s odds have shortened to 5/2 for him to be on the plane to Germany next month.
Other England Selection Odds
In previous years Eze might have found himself a walk-in for the squad following his latest showings, but he faces a lot of competition if he wishes to force himself into the squad, with a vast array of attacking talent available to Southgate heading into this summer’s tournament.
Cole Palmer - 1/8
Despite only making his England debut in November of 2023, Cole Palmer looks nailed on to secure a place on the plane to Germany this summer.
The 22-year-old is in the midst of a sensational 2023/24 campaign, which has seen him score 26 and assist 14 in all competitions for Chelsea. No other English winger currently playing in the Premier League comes close to matching his output, with Phil Foden’s 17 goals and eight assists in the division for Manchester City still well off the pace of Palmer’s 21 goals and 10 assists for Chelsea.
Given Southgate does often favour players he has worked with extensively, Palmer is not expected to start too many games this summer, but he is sure to play some part at Euro 2024, even if it is from the bench.
Anthony Gordon - 8/15
While Palmer looks guaranteed to be selected by Southgate, Anthony Gordon’s involvement is less of a certainty.
The winger, despite some mid-season issues at Newcastle, has managed to net 10 goals and provide 10 assists in the league this term - becoming only the third player to do so for the Magpies since the creation of the Premier League. Like Eze, Gordon is a versatile option who can operate all across the frontline.
Jarrod Bowen - 5/6
Jarrod Bowen’s odds to make the finals in Germany are quite high considering how well he has performed this term.
West Ham as a squad have fallen off following the sale of Declan Rice, but Bowen has still managed to chip in with 16 goals and six assists in 34 Premier League ties. Bowen also has more experience with the Three Lions than all of the aforementioned players - making his debut in June of 2022 and notching a total of seven appearances for his country.
