England v Greece Match Preview
England will be looking to maintain their perfect start in Group B2 of the Nations League when they welcome Greece to the home of football on Thursday evening.
Yes, Wembley will host this intriguing match and both sides will put their unbeaten tags on the line.
Lee Carsley will hope to continue his interim role with aplomb for the Three Lions, despite murmurings that the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel, who are both out of work, could be primed for the England Head Coach position.
Just like England, Greece have yet to concede a goal from their first two Nations League games, but surely something has got to give, right?
I am on hand to provide a full preview ahead of the game and supplied a couple of England betting tips too.
England to keep things rolling along nicely
For some, international football may be a mere distraction, especially given how exciting things have been in the Premier League of late.
While this game isn’t a glamorised friendly, England and Greece are two teams that aren’t unfamiliar to each other.
Indeed, England are unbeaten in all nine of their meetings with Greece across all competitions (W7 D2), and they have kept a clean sheet in seven of those matches.
Perhaps more pertinently, Greece have drawn with England on their past two visits to these shores. The most recent was a pulsating 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in a World Cup qualifier in October 2001 where David Beckham’s free-kick sent England to the World Cup.
Anyway, England have been formidable at home, winning 16 of their past 21 competitive matches at home (D3 L2), keeping six clean sheets in their past nine fixtures.
To kick off my England betting tips, I’m going with England to prevail & BTTS. If you like the sound of that, BetVictor is advertising an inviting price of 12/5.
Three Lions to purr at Wembley
While it remains to be seen how long Carlsey will stay in charge of England, they have a new-found confidence and dynamism about them.
Although Harry Kane, for example, came under fire during Euro 2024, let’s not forget he has netted 26 goals in 26 competitive appearances for the Three Lions. He is looking to become just the third England player to score in seven straight competitive games, and recently he took his international tally to 68.
Carsley has plenty of options on the bench too, and with that, much-needed firepower.
To ally my first pick, I’m going to make a Correct Score prediction. A comfortable 3-1 England win sings to me, and that is available at an inviting 8/1 with Paddy Power if you wish to pursue that.
