JUBILEE GOLD has put in a series of solid efforts in handicaps this spring, and he looks like solid betting value to be in the mix here for training duo Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole.
He ran 3rd at Wincanton at the end of last month, finishing less than two lengths behind Paddy De Pole, who has since hacked up in a Hereford handicap hurdle from a mark of 109.
A repeat of that Wincanton run should see Jubilee Gold go close from today’s mark of 102.

Conditions were described as soft – good to soft in places – at Ffos Las on Tuesday morning, with a dry forecast for race day. If conditions have dried to good to soft or better, then I do hope to see a big run from last year’s winner of the 3m 4f Handicap Chase AMATEUR (Each-Way) for John and Rhys Flint.
The selection has won on soft ground in the past – won the Mandarin back in December 2020 – but he is a different horse on a decent surface and can race from the same mark as when successful twelve months ago.
His amateur jockey Edward Vaughan was in the plate when likely market leader Silver In Disguise scored at Chepstow last time but Alan Johns is back in the plate on Tim Vaughan’s grey this afternoon with Vaughan taking a valuable 7lbs from the back of the selection who has failed to finish in his last three starts but is a three-time course and distance winner and this has likely long been the plan.
This is his time of the year, and he would have merited a decent bet had the weather played ball. Looking at the forecast, however, there must be every chance that conditions will have dried out by the time of the race which will be the first contest over fences on the day.
The Racing Post tissue (14/1) suggests he will be a double-figure price, which would be fair, although the caveat remains that he really is ground-dependent.
