Latest Tottenham Premier League top-four odds after Newcastle defeat

The odds on Tottenham to finish in the Premier League top-four this season have lengthened following Saturday afternoon’s defeat to Newcastle United.

Spurs began the 2023/24 campaign by going 10 games unbeaten but a mid-season dip in form followed by a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Newcastle over the weekend means they are now 13/8 to secure a top-four finish this term.

Ange Postecoglou laments Newcastle defeat

Tottenham were away to Newcastle on Saturday and though the Magpies have been much stronger at home this term, Spurs were still expected to put up a good fight.

However, strikes from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon in the 30th and 32nd minute deflated the Lilywhites, who were rather wasteful in front of goal.

Speaking post-match, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou gave his assessment of his side’s defeat: “Newcastle were good, credit to them, I thought they were really good today.

“We just didn’t really get a grip of the game at all. Right from the start it felt like we allowed Newcastle to dictate the way the game was played, we never really wrestled control at any stage. We paid a price for that.

“I don’t think it was one person that was at fault today. It was about us as a collective. We never really got to grips with the game of football. We let it get away from us. And like I said, we paid a price for it.”

Tottenham are now not in action until April 28 vs Arsenal due to FA Cup games this weekend.
