A busy summer for Manchester United is already underway, with preliminary negotiations for Benfica’s 19-year-old striking sensation Joao Felix. The forward has been in scintillating form this season, and United are keen to get ahead of the mounting competition for his signature by getting a deal done early.
There is a huge rebuild needed at Old Trafford this summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to freshen up his squad ahead of his first full season in charge. Failure to reach the Champions League may hinder their ability to secure the best players in the transfer market, but with the likes of Juventus, Manchester City and Real Madrid said to be monitoring Felix, signing him would prove a real statement of intent this summer.
It is no wonder that so many clubs are said to be keen on the Portuguese star, after he scored 20 goals and registered 11 assists in 43 games. His club, who have a history of developing and selling talent at high prices, will be desperate to make a huge amount on his sale, and are insisting any buyer pays the £105 million clause in his contract.
Discussions are already under way for a player who would almost certainly improve the side instantly next season.

Other targets, such as Jadon Sancho and Kalidou Koulibaly, could be tougher to capture if stories in the press are to be believed. But there are plenty of positions that need improving, with a focus on young, and predominantly British, talent.
While money isn’t said to be an issue for Solskjaer, he will also be looking to offload a number of players. Reports have suggested Alexis Sanchez is a target for Inter and Juventus, while Paul Pogba is said to be a £120 million target for Real Madrid.
More alarmingly, Paris Saint-Germain are waiting in the wings as David De Gea’s contract runs down. It promises to be a crucial and intriguing few months for the Red Devils, but securing Felix would be a great start.
