Mikel Arteta provides Bukayo Saka injury update after Luton absence

Arsenal hosted Luton Town on Wednesday evening, aware that a win would temporarily see them return to the Premier League summit.

When all was said and done, the Gunners secured a 2-0 win to move a point above Liverpool, though the Reds are set to play their game in hand on Thursday evening. Arsenal are next in action during Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off vs Brighton and are 3/5 to pick up the win with bet365.

Bukayo Saka injury update

Martin Odegaard’s 24th-minute strike and an own goal shortly before the break saw Arsenal cruise to a comfortable 2-0 win on Wednesday.

However, the Gunners had to face Luton without one of their star players in Bukayo Saka. Saka has been struggling with a muscle issue of late and was forced to withdraw from the England squad last month.

And though the winger took part in training on Tuesday, the north Londoners decided not to risk him for the game with Luton.

In a boost for Arsenal, however, Mikel Arteta is hopeful Saka can be back ready for this Saturday’s clash with Brighton:

“He was close but he felt something in a very similar area (to) against City and it was a very short turnaround,” Arteta said.

“Hopefully he will be able to train [on Thursday] and be available for the weekend.”
