Mikel Arteta provides Bukayo Saka injury update after Manchester City

Arsenal travelled to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, looking to pick up their first win at the Etihad in the Premier League since 2015.

When all was said and done, the Gunners were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw, a result which leaves them 2nd in the table and two points off Liverpool. Arsenal return to action vs Luton Town on Wednesday and are 1/9 favourites to pick up the win with bet365.

Mikel Arteta on Bukayo Saka injury

Late in Sunday’s game, Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka could be seen limping as he was taken off following a rather quiet performance against the champions.

Saka, of course, withdrew from the England squad last month due to injury and it appears he is not fully recovered at this stage.

Mikel Arteta explained post-match that Saka was only able to train once before the Man City game as he has been feeling a problem for a few weeks:

“As you know he’s been out for a few weeks now with a little problem,” Arteta said.

“He was feeling that fatigue. Right now he hasn’t trained. He trained just one day before the match. He made a big contribution, but 90 minutes was a lot today.”

Should Saka miss out vs Luton in midweek, Gabriel Jesus will more than likely deputies on the right wing.
