The Netherlands, in the meantime, have wavered between the brilliant and disappointing, and last weekend, they came from behind to knock out surprise package Turkey in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory.
Of course, things are never straightforward with either side, but a fascinating spectacle awaits.

Three Lions to get over the line in unconvincing fashion
The England fans have so far been subjected to four rather lacklustre displays, but when it mattered, they delivered.
The win may have come via the penalty spot against Switzerland where they converted a perfect five out of five kicks, but they banished their demons at the same time.
There had been significant scar tissue before the tournament, and let’s not forget that Bukayo Saka came under heavy fire three years ago after his miss in the shoot-out defeat to Italy in the Euros final.
Anyway, England have suffered a mixture of crushing disappointment and incredible ecstasy against the Dutch.
A 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Oranje at Euro 1988 saw England bundled out in the group stages after finishing bottom, but at Euro 1996, England propelled themselves into the quarter-finals with a vintage 4-1 win thanks to two goals apiece from Teddy Sheringham and Alan Shearer.
The Netherlands are looking to win their first major title since 1988, and this could well be a tense affair.
Three of the four Euro 2024 quarter-final ties went to extra time, with two resolved via a penalty shoot-out.
For my opening pick, I like the method of the victory line. 73% of England’s knockout games at the Euros since 1980 have gone into extra time, so we could go the distance.
I’m leaning towards England to win by penalties which is priced at a tempting 8/1 with William Hill.
Goalkeepers set for a busy night
There are some intriguing battles all over the park, and it will be fascinating to see how Virgil van Dijk tries to contain Harry Kane.
Anyway, against Switzerland, England conceded 11 shots while Turkey mustered 15 attempts against the Netherlands.
Neither side has proved itself to be fully defensively adept during the tournament, and therefore it could be an action-paced evening in both goalmouths.
