The odds on Newcastle United to finish in the Premier League top six have been slashed following their win over Tottenham on Saturday.
The Magpies slipped down the league table midway through the campaign following a spate of injury issues but they are now 1/1 to finish in the Premier League top six on the back of their latest outing.
Alan Shearer on Newcastle’s European hopes
After beating Spurs 4-0, Newcastle climbed up to 6th in the Premier League table for the first time in several months.
The North East outfit are level on points with Manchester United but have an 18-better goal difference than the Red Devils.
Speaking after the Tottenham victory, Alan Shearer stated Eddie Howe has done a ‘brilliant job’ to lead Newcastle into contention for a place in Europe:
“He’s doing a brilliant job. If you look at the injuries Newcastle had before yesterday’s game, it’s arguable that with the injuries he could have put a better team out, a better eleven, than the one that was actually against Tottenham,” he said.
“That tells you how good a job he is doing. The last couple of results were superb, they’ve got a decent run-in, so if they can get into a Europa League spot, which is every chance now, then it would still be an incredible season because of everything that has been thrown at them.”
Newcastle will be looking to maintain their spot in the Premier League top six when they travel to Crystal Palace on April 24 as 13/10 favourites.
