Preston Next Manager Contenders
Here is a look at the current names leading the betting list to be the next Preston manager.
Liam Rosenior
Viewed by many as being unfairly sacked at Hull last season, Rosenior was always going to be favourite for any early season Championship job.
He did a good job at Hull, with a squad that wasn’t one of the strongest in the league, and probably has a little more support than he previously would have, due to the surprising sacking last season.
He knows the league really well, and would be a rock solid appointment if Preston don’t want to go outside of the box too much.
David Moyes
Moyes left West Ham at the end of last season, and this move to Preston could be the ideal way for him to get back into football.
He ended his playing career at the club, playing over 100 games, before going on to be manager of Preston for four years.
In his first managerial role, he led Preston to the title in division two (current League One) before reaching the division one playoff final a year later (currently the Championship)
He would leave the club on good terms, to go and manage Premier League side Everton.
Gary Rowett
Another free agent, Gary Rowett spent the end of last season in charge of Birmingham as interim manager, but was unable to keep them in the Championship, though they did win three of their last eight under him.
He’s got plenty of Championship experience, alongside Birmingham twice, he’s been in charge of Derby, Stoke and Millwall in the second tier.
Again, similar to Rosenior, if Preston want someone who knows the Championship, to come and steady the ship, then Rowett is that kind of manager.
