Scotland Euro 2024 Top Scorer Odds: Scott McTominay 5/1

Steve Clarke confirmed his provisional squad for Euro 2024 on Wednesday morning.

Scotland have struggled for goals at the European Championships in the past, finding the net on just one occasion during Euro 2020, but will be hoping to change that this summer.

We have taken a look at who will finish as Scotland’s Top Goalscorer at this summer’s European Championship.

Who will be Scotland’s Top Scorer at Euro 2024?

Lawrence Shankland

Lawrence Shankland is the current favourite to finish as Scotland’s top goalscorer at Euro 2024. The 28-year-old enjoyed a stellar 2023/24 club campaign with Hearts, which saw him find the net on 31 occasions across all competitions.

However, despite his superb club form, Shankland remains on the fringes of the Scotland team. He has made just nine senior appearances for his country, though Steve Clarke has called him up during the last two international breaks, with the striker featuring in all four games during that period. Should he nail down a regular starting berth at Euro 2024, he certainly has the firepower to be Scotland’s top scorer.

Che Adams

Heading into Euro 2024, Che Adams is the man expected to lead the line for Scotland. Adams has been Scotland’s primary no.9 for several years and started all three games at Euro 2020.

The 27-year-old has also enjoyed a solid club season, scoring 17 in all competitions for Southampton as they battle for a place in the Premier League.

Lyndon Dykes

Lyndon Dykes heads into the upcoming tournament on the back of a tough campaign with QPR. The 28-year-old scored just six times in 41 league appearances for the Championship outfit in 2023/24 and lost his starting berth midway through the campaign. However, he returned to the XI and to form in the final month of the club season, scoring twice in the Rangers’ final three matches.

For Scotland, meanwhile, he has nine goals in 31 outings. While this is by no means a staggering record, it is one of the best from the current Scotland team.

Scott McTominay

While McTominay is priced fairly high in the betting, you should consider backing the midfielder to be Scotland’s top scorer this summer.

The 27-year-old has been given more of a licence to roam forward by club and country over the last year. This saw him net seven times for Manchester United in 32 Premier League games and, more importantly, saw him score seven goals during Euro 2024 qualifying - only Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku found the net on more occasions.
