The Hundred Cricket Betting Tips: Oval Invincibles v Southern Brave & Welsh Fire v London Spirit
- Oval Invincibles v Southern Brave & Welsh Fire v London Spirit
- The Hundred Men’s and Women’s Final
- Sunday August 18, 2024
- Lord’s
The London Spirit women look ideally placed to light up Lord’s having gained a couple of impressive wins this week to qualify for a final meeting with group stage winners Welsh Fire.
There’s often a team who comes from nowhere in these competitions and threatens, and that’s the Spirit, who suffered a mid-campaign wobble of only one win in five matches.
They have significant experience and quality in the likes of Charlie Dean, Sarah Glenn, Heather Knight, Meg Lanning and Deepti Sharma, and I’ve always felt that the Fire, who credit to them have won five of eight matches, were punching above their weight.
I’m going for a Spirit win here, at 1/1 with William Hill.
The men’s final is a clash between the defending champions (Oval Invincibles) and the inaugural winners in 2021 (Southern Brave).
They are two teams I thought would make the final, and the Brave had to come through a tied Eliminator and a Super Five with the Birmingham Phoenix at the Oval last night.
I won’t be going against my pre-tournament title tip, the Invincibles, who I would have expected to be a bit shorter than 10/11 with bet365 to win.
That firm can’t split the pair, but I’m convinced the Invincibles are a better side than the Brave.

Women’s Final - Welsh Fire v London Spirit
London Spirit’s Australian wicketkeeper-opener Georgia Redmayne looks under-valued on bet365′s player performance market.
Albeit it’s only a 5/6 bet, I would absolutely be going over 26.5 points every day of the week. It’s a point a run, 10 per catch and 25 wicket per stumping.
She’s topped that mark in four of nine appearances, including in yesterday’s Eliminator win over Oval Invincibles when she took a catch, a stumping and hit 53 not out.
I’ve stuck with the same firm for an 8/5 bet builder on Welsh Fire trio Jess Jonassen, Hayley Matthews and Freya Davies all to take a wicket and for Spirit bowler Sarah Glenn to do the same.
They’ve all taken double-figure wickets in this season’s Hundred.
Men’s Final - Oval Invincibles v Southern Brave
Dawid Malan has previous with top-scoring in a Hundred final win, doing so with Trent Rockets when they beat the Brave in 2022. I suspect he’ll need more than 19 to achieve the feat this time. There won’t be many times you top-score with less than 20 in a final, but he did on that occasion.
He has scored 182 runs with one fifty in this campaign, that coming last time out against the Rockets earlier this week. He’s a big game player, and I can see him top-scoring for the Invincibles at Lord’s.
Betfred have him at 18/5 to achieve that feat, a price I’d be taking on the former England opener.
Let’s finish with an Adam Zampa special. The Invincibles’ star Aussie leg-spinner is the joint leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 17 alongside his team-mate Sam Curran.
Bet365 have him at 10/1 to be the Match Hero. He’s taken three or more wickets on four occasions, including a four-wicket haul. Anything similar in an Invincibles win would put him right in the running for that gong.
