Another weekend of continental league action awaits and we are going to look at what Sunday has to offer.
European Goals Acca - 14/1
- Napoli vs Cremonese – Over 3.5 Goals
- Villarreal vs Barcelona – Over 2.5 Goals
- Cologne vs Eintracht Frankfurt – Under 2.5 Goals
- Lyon vs Lens – Under 2.5 Goals
Going First Class
If you fancy a European flutter to end the week, why not take a look at four of our very best bets.
The Runaway Leaders
The first of our four clashes takes us to Serie A and as league leaders Napoli prepare to play host to Cremonese on Sunday, they will look to keep the sizeable distance between themselves and the chasing pack.
Then again, to call the likes of Inter and Roma a chasing pack is doing Luciano Spaletti and his men an incredible disservice. 13 points clear before the weekend gets underway and Cremonese are unlikely to put a dent in that.
Especially as they currently find themselves sitting bottom of the table and with them acting as the division’s whipping boys, I am starting this weekend’s acca with a big portion of goals. Over 3.5 in total will do nicely and that will also unlock odds of 11/10.
Another Edging Clear
Next up we go to La Liga and another team that is beginning to pull clear at the top of the table. The team in question is Barcelona, the gap between themselves and Real Madrid currently stands at eight points, it could just as easily be 11 on Sunday.
With Los Blancos not in action this weekend, Xavi’s men will look to turn the screw further. To do that, they will need to get the better of Villarreal at El Madrigal. Not the easiest feat it must be said and therefore, this could also be a game that lends itself to goals.
Last weekend saw Barcelona scored three unanswered goals of their own, as they eventually made light work of Sevilla. I reckon three in total can be recorded in Eastern Spain and that is why I have backed over 2.5 at odds of 4/5.
German Weekend Trip
Now we are off to the Bundesliga, as Cologne play host to Eintracht Frankfurt and with the hosts currently unbeaten in their last four league outings, they will look to extend that run to a quintet on Sunday.
Admittedly the last three of those have been draws and with a lack of cutting edge being displayed by Steffen Baumgart’s men, it may suggest that goals could be at a premium at the end of this coming week.
Another reason could be the fact that there have been two or fewer goals in 11 of the last 13 home clashes with Eintracht Frankfurt (all competitions) and this is a big enough sample for me to back under 2.5 again at odds of 11/10.
Please Stop Lyon
While my final pick takes me to Ligue 1 as Lyon and Lens need maximum points for slightly differing reasons. For the hosts, a win would turbocharge their quest for European football next season. For the visitors, a win would keep their rather feint title hopes alive.
A look at the last six matches suggests the outcome could be difficult to call. Lyon have won three outings, Lens one and there have also been two draws. Thankfully for me, I am not here to call a winner, I just need to sniff out the goals.
Of which I do not think there will be all that many and with there being two or less in each of Lens’ last four Ligue 1 outings, backing the streak being extended at odds of 10/11 seems a worthwhile punt for me.
While if you put all four combinations together, Bet365 are prepared to offer you 14.15/1 in return.
