Marching On Together

After midweek results saw none of the top three pick up a win, the question regarding outright Championship success is still yet to be answered.

Who Wants It

Was it opportunity missed, or another point gained? That is the question that Leeds supporters will have been asking themselves after Tuesday’s draw with Sunderland and although it may be the first part of the conundrum, it could just as easily be the second.

The first because on the same night that Leeds were held by the Black Cats, Leicester also slipped up at relegation-threatened Millwall. The second because of Ipswich’s own stalemate with Watford just 24 hours later.

On the balance of how things have unfolded in midweek, you would argue that it really was an opportunity missed by manager Daniel Farke and his players and had they got the better of a Sunderland side with nothing to play for, the Elland Road outfit would be top before the weekend.

Could have gone top, having to make do with third before Saturday’s visit of Blackburn and with just one point separating the three sides that are aiming for automatic promotion at least and the Championship title at most, there will no doubt be another twist or twists in the tale.

A twist that may not be seen at Elland Road this Saturday and the reason for this is the lack of confidence that Blackburn may have going into this encounter. They may be three points clear of the relegation zone, but those three points may not end up being enough.

Not only because Rovers’ have a brutal run in between now and the end of the season but because they arrive in Yorkshire feeling shellshocked after their midweek showing at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate.

At Ashton Gate but the Blackburn’s defence were unable to shut the gate and with them conceding five unanswered goals in the South West, their position in the Championship relegation battle has gone further south,

Not only do they have to face both Leeds and Leicester in their final four games, but they must also welcome Coventry who are in the playoff mix and needing a win to Ewood Park and also Sheffield Wednesday the week before in what can only described as a relegation six-pointer.

For manager John Eustace, the trip to Bristol City was highlighted as the only safe opponent from their last five games. Win there and they may be enough of a cushion to see them through. After that defeat, things have got rather uncomfortable for those involved with the Lancashire outfit.

But now it is time for the first of my two tips and although Leeds may have stuttered in midweek, they will be in full voice come the weekend and therefore, I am backing the home win by a margin of two goals at odds of 10/3.

In addition to this, I am going to back both teams to score – if only because of Blackburn’s Sammie Szmodics but a goal from the Irish forward will be for nothing, as I also predict a 3-1 home win, and this is priced at 10/1.
