Livingston vs Celtic Match Preview, Predictions & Free Bets
The Scottish Premiership resumes this weekend and Livingston play host to Celtic on Sunday.
The Top Bhoys
While it is case of bottom versus top at the time of writing, as Livingston’s woes are pushing them closer to the SPFL Championship.
Fighting For Survival
It is all change in the Scottish Premiership as the weather in Dundee has invertedly dealt Celtic a huge hand in this season’s title race. Going into the weekend it is Brendan Rodgers’ men who are once again top after inactivity for their nearest rivals.
In a weekend where Celtic were winning against St Johnstone on the Saturday, Rangers were foiled at short notice on the Sunday and with their trip to Dens Park being postponed just an hour before kickoff, it now leaves multiple headaches to be soothed.
A headache for Rangers as they now find themselves playing relative catch-up as we go into week 31 of the season, but also a headache for the league administrators as they have to work out when the rescheduled trip to Dundee takes place.
Then again, this is not a problem that Celtic have to be overly concerned with. Their only issue is to make sure that they ramp up the pressure on their Glasgow neighbours and with a trip to Livingston on Sunday’s horizon, that should not be too difficult.
Especially as Livingston have been far from difficult to beat this season and with David Martindale’s men finding themselves cast adrift at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table, an impending sense of doom is surrounding the Tony Macaroni Stadium.
A sense that has largely been in place all season and with Livingston currently ten points behind Ross County, there is even a possibility that the club could be relegated before the end of season split gets underway.
Admittedly the chance is slight and would need Ross County to win two of their last three pre-split matches and Livingston to lose all of their last three. The former part of the bargain may be a big ask, the latter not so much.
Even if Livingston do manage to survive past the start of the split, then any escape plans may have to be the greatest of them all. Then again, earning just 17 points from the first 30 matches of this season, does not suggest salvation is lurking around the corner. Admittedly, Livingston has positioned itself as a club that likes to punch above its weight and has managed to land the odd blow across the years. But with their budget being the smallest in the division, they may have to soon prepare themselves for a big knockout blow.
But now it is time for the first of my two tips and with the bookmakers offering no value on a Celtic win, we may have to get creative to make this one worthwhile. The creativity comes in backing the Hoops to lead 1-0 at the break at odds of 9/4.
In addition to this, I am also going to back Celtic to then go up through the gears after the break and to truly hammer home their dominance, I am putting a 4-0 win on the cards. Should Livingston crumble after the break, this outcome currently offers odds of 10/1.
