Good to soft ground is expected for the jump meetings at Hereford and Lingfield on Tuesday afternoon and we have tips for both cards.
“Tip of the Day” - White Hart Lady (1.00pm Lingfield) - 3/1 with Paddy Power
Harry Fry’s consistent mare should benefit from her first run over fences last month to take this handicap chase off a mark of only 88.
1.00pm Lingfield, 2m 4f - White Hart Lady (Nap)
It has to be said that the Harry Fry-trained WHITE HART LADY didn’t exactly look a natural over fences on her debut over the bigger obstacles at Worcester last month when making several mistakes in finishing a distant second to Glorious Lady.
That was the mares’ first run in 239 days however and the daughter of Doyen is sure to come on with that run under her belt. Providing the mount of 3lb claimer Lorcan Murtagh puts in a better round of jumping on this occasion, the consistent eight-year-old, a winner over hurdles at Fontwell 12 months ago, looks seriously well treated on a mark of 88 in this mares’ handicap.
Decent form among the selection’s seven rivals is thin on the ground, the best of which is probably that of top weight My Silver Lining who, like White Hart Lady, should improve for her first start over fences.
1.45pm Hereford, 3m 1f - Kyntara (Each Way)
Most of the nine runners for this 3m 1f novices’ handicap chase are making their debuts over fences, although the Paul Nicholls-trained Amenon had three runs over the bigger obstacles in his native France without much luck, before joining the Ditcheat team.
Emma Lavelle’s The Street has always looked a chaser in the making and any market move for the mount of 7lb claimer Joe Anderson should be noted. But the Kim Bailey stable looks to be running into form and his KYNTARA (e.w.), a point-to point winner before joining the stable at the beginning of last year, can benefit from recent wind surgery and the use of a tongue-tie for the first time, to open his account over fences at the first attempt.
Runner-up on his last three of four starts over hurdles, the son of Kayf Tara was beaten a total of two and three quarter lengths in those three races. This 17 length bumper winner on his first outing for the stable looks better than his opening chase mark of 118.
3.00pm Lingfield, 2m 7 1/2f - Frenchy Du Large
There is probably a decent staying chase to be won with the Emma Lavelle-trained Pemberley this season although the nine-year-old, on his seasonal reappearance, may find this extended 2m 7f trip a shade on the sharp side.
Paul Nicholls’ Storm Arising, rated 140 when finishing 14th in last year’s Pertemps Final at the Cheltenham Festival, is yet to win in three attempts over fences but may benefit from a wind op during the summer. However, conditions look right for the Venetia Williams-trained FRENCHY DU LARGE who looked a chaser to follow last season.
After recording comfortable wins at Uttoxeter and Chepstow last December/January, the grey faced a difficult task in trying to concede 16lb to the rapidly improving Movethechains over today’s course and distance, before ending the season with a fall in a Listed chase at Sandown.
The seven-year-old is normally a safe jumper and off a mark only 1lb higher than when last successful, can make a winning start to the present campaign.
