2024 Snooker World Championship – Day 11 Tips
The 2024 Snooker World Championship is here, and we’ve got tips and predictions from Day 11 at the Crucible
The mammoth, seemingly never-ending second-round matches have all now been settled in Sheffield, opening the door for four wonderful matches in the quarter-finals.
Let’s take a closer look at the Day 11 action.
David Gilbert vs Stephen Maguire – Over 23.5 frames
Stephen Maguire is… on fire.
The Scot beat his old rival Shaun Murphy in a fiery second-round tie and is now looking to add David Gilbert to the 9 and 8 seeds he has already knocked out so far.
Gilbert didn’t have to get out of second gear against Robert Milkins, who self-imploded on the baize in a 13-4 loss, but Maguire (2x semi-finalist) will be harder to budge.
In a race to 13, we’re expecting a mini-marathon between these two with over 23.5 frames, providing excellent value between two guys that are only separated by three seedings.
Judd Trump to beat Jak Jones 13-6 or 13-7
Jak Jones has proved to be a Chinese nightmare at the Crucible so far this year, knocking out Zhang Anda and Si Jiahui to reach his maiden quarter-final in his first visit.
The Welshman hasn’t exactly done things the hard way, but without a century break so far in his winning 23 frames, Jones has had to show his battling tendencies on the baize in wearing down his opposition.
In fact, Jones has made just 10 half-century breaks so far over his two matches, with meatier visits needed if he is going to put a chink in the armour of Judd Trump.
Trump is flying without doing anything too magical… yet.
The 2019 winner has dropped just 12 frames in his two opening matches and will be pleased to draw a favourable Jones – the 44th seed of the tournament – and will take heart in his 4-1 head-to-head over the 30-year-old.
13-6 or 13-7 looks great, with Trump pulling away in the second half of the contest.
