2024 US Open Tips and Betting Offers

A busy summer of golf continues this week with the US Open which denotes the third major of the campaign.

After keeping a cool head to get the job done and wrap up his fifth win of the season last weekend at the Memorial Tournament, Scottie Scheffler has been hitting peak Tiger Wood levels.

Staged at the iconic Pinehurst for the fourth time, the 124th edition of the US Open promises to be a stiff test for the 156-man field, but this time with a change of conditions following the switch to bermudagrass from bentgrass.

The original dimensions and sandhills will play a big part in the course’s aesthetics, and Wyndham Clark will be looking to mount a successful defence of his title which arrived in just his seventh major start last year.

But how will things unravel this week? I have given you a glimpse of what to expect in this full preview complete with US Open tips.

Scottie Scheffler to rubber stamp his dominance

The books might be a little terrified and the same could be said of his opponents!

Scheffler is the shortest-priced major favourite since Woods at the 2009 PGA Championship held at Hazeltine, and the American continues to sweep aside the field week in and week out with minimal fuss.

His victory at the Memorial Tournament was his fifth win in eight starts this season, and he is the first player to clinch five titles before the US Open since Tom Watson in 1980.

Scheffler’s ball striking has been sublime, and his stats make for irrepressible reading. For example, among the multitude of performance metrics he leads in, includes Strokes Gained (+2.913), Birdie or Better Percentage (29.96%), and Scoring Average (67.71).

The gauntlet has been laid down, and it would be amiss to overlook Scheffler.

His last three US Open appearances have seen him finish no lower than seventh, and he could well enter the winner’s circle again.

To tee off my US Open tips, I’m going with Scheffler to triumph, and Paddy Power is carrying a short price of 11/4.

Sungjae Im to bounce into the Top 10

Despite a mixed set of results at the beginning of 2024, which included a run of three missed cuts from five starts, Sungjae Im has settled the ship since mid-April.

Three top-10 finishes and a top-12 at the Wells Fargo Championship would suggest his game is trending in the right direction.

The South Korean will be looking for his first payday at a major this term, and he seems to have the wind in his sails.

We all know what he is capable of, and when on song, his timing is impeccable.

To complete my US Open tips, I’m tempted by the 13/2 odds served up by BetVictor for Im to seal a top-10 finish which could be worth exploring.
