One of Scotland’s premier racecourses, Ayr hosts a six race card on Monday afternoon, including five competitive handicaps.

Courtesy of our tipping experts Alan Kelly and Charlie McCann, we have two free tips for Ayr on Monday - check them out below, plus a generous £50 new customer offer from Betfair, one of the top horse racing betting sites.

Ayr Tips

We’ve got two free Ayr tips below - both recommended as each-way bets.

And remember our Each-Way Betting Calculator is at hand to calculate any returns you may have.

2:30pm Ayr - Desert Quest (Each-Way)

Ravenscraig Castle has not won for a long time but is very well handicapped and his talented apprentice can claim 5lbs. Rain is due overnight, which will suit, and I do not think the grey was given the best of rides here last time. I expect him to be ridden more patiently this afternoon.

I’m not sure about the trip for Tilsitt and the vote goes to DESERT QUEST (Each-Way) at the foot of the weights. I have been impressed in recent weeks with Liam Wright’s riding, and the six-year-old is a course and distance winner who can race from the same mark as when beaten a head over course and distance back in June.

The selection failed to get home when third over two miles at Musselburgh last time, but the first two home are subsequent winners, and the forecast good ground is ideal.

4:50pm Ayr - Braes Of Doune (Each-Way)

The trainer/jockey combination of Jim Goldie and Paul Mulrennan is always to be respected when pairing up at the Scottish track, and they look to have a great chance of taking this Class 6 handicap with the consistent six-year-old BRAES OF DOUNE (Each-Way).

This will be the fourth consecutive outing at Ayr for the Orientor gelding this season, all off today’s mark of 51. Possibly unlucky on the second of those starts when slipping leaving the stalls, Braes Of Doune was still beaten less than four lengths after weakening late on over a trip of 1m 2f.

Racing over 7f today, there is no guarantee that this much shorter distance will suit the selection. But his trainer has a reputation for experimenting trip-wise with his horses and I see no reason why this son of a 5f/6f sprinter should not be at home over today’s shorter trip.

Alison Hamilton’s Drakeholes would have a decent chance if able to transfer some decent all-weather form to that of turf, while Pembrokeshire and The Gay Blade (dead-heated at Hamilton on Thursday), two of three runners for trainer Iain Jardine, are others to consider.
