Potential Next Burnley Managers
Let’s look at some of the names at the top of the betting market.
Scott Parker
Scott Parker is currently topping the betting market.
Dismissed by Bournemouth in August 2022 following a 9-0 defeat to Liverpool, he joined Club Brugge in December of that year.
He led the Belgian side to the last 16 of the Champions League, but a poor run of form saw his side win just two of his 12 games in charge, and he was dismissed.
However, having led Fulham to promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking in 2021, Burnley could look to Parker to do the same with them.
Frank Lampard
Frank Lampard is another prominent name in the betting.
He has experience in the Championship, having led Derby County to the playoff final in 2019, losing out to Aston Villa.
Having sat out the whole of last season following his departure from Chelsea following the 2022-23 campaign, a rejuvenated Lampard will likely be keen to get back into management this year.
Steve Cooper
Cooper did an outstanding job with Nottingham Forest, leading them from 16th spot in the Championship to promotion via the playoffs in 2023.
Forest faced a challenging start to the season that led to Cooper’s departure over Christmas, with the team finding themselves in a disappointing 17th spot in the table.
With recent experience in the Championship and the Premier League, Cooper meets many of Burnley’s requirements for a new manager.
Ruud van Nistelrooy
Legendary striker Ruud van Nistelrooy began his coaching journey in 2014 as assistant manager for the Netherlands.
After working with PSV’s youth teams and assisting the national team again, he took the reins as PSV’s head coach in 2022.
Despite a successful season, including a Johan Cruyff Shield and KNVB Cup win, his tenure ended abruptly after just one year. Citing a lack of support, he resigned with PSV in second place in the Eredivisie.
A return to the north-west of England, where van Nistelrooy enjoyed so much success with Manchester United, could tempt the Dutchman to Turf Moor.
David Moyes
No stranger to claret and blue, David Moyes has now left West Ham, having led them to their first trophy in 43 years after overcoming Fiorentina in last season’s Europa Conference League final.
However, Moyes is used to Premier League football, so dropping into the Championship so soon after leaving the Hammers may not appeal to the Scotsman.
