Champions League Tips and Predictions: 12/1 Champions League Qualifying Acca

- FCSB HT/FT
- FK Decic to win and BTTS
- Vikingur Reykjavik v Shamrock Rovers
- HJK Helsinki to win
Last week saw the Champions League get under way with the first round of qualifying, and already we saw the kind of surprise results that make it Europe’s premier club competition.
Shamrock Rovers and The New Saints are in action again on Tuesday night, with the former looking to make full use of home advantage after a goalless draw in the first leg against Vikingur Reykjavik and The New Saints in pole position against FK Decic Tuzi.

Champions League Acca
FCSB (7) v Virtus (1)
FCSB HT/FT
It was always going to be a big ask for Virtus, even on home turf against Romanian champions FCSB - formerly known as Steaua Bucharest - and so it panned out with a thumping 7-1 win for the visitors.
There aren’t many markets available on this game and I think it will be another very convincing win, so backing the hosts to be ahead at half-time and then full time is as close to a banker as we can get. I think there will be a sizable gulf between the two sides and FCSB should have no problem coasting past the San Marino club once again.
FK Decic Tuzi (0) v TNS (3)
FK Decic to win and BTTS
We tipped a close game between Welsh champions The New Saints and Montenegro side FK Decic Tuzi last week, so it is a brilliant result for TNS to come away with a big win and a clean sheet, but I don’t think they will have it all their own way this time round on foreign soil.
There wasn’t as much between the two sides as the scoreline suggests, but TNS were far more clinical in front of goal and blew their opponents away in the first half. I think the hosts will be able to get a win back in the second leg but with both teams scoring, which will give TNS a first appearance in the second round of qualifying.
Shamrock Rovers (0) v Vikingur Reykjavik (())
Both Teams to Score
With both sides in the middle of their respective season, I knew this one would be a tough one to call but I expected a bit more from the first leg as they would both be battle-hardened and playing some good stuff.
Instead Shamrock were fortunate to cling on to a goalless draw, leaving everything riding on this second leg. With that in mind, I think the visitors will expect to dominate again but home advantage should count for something so both teams to score should be a safe bet.
FK Panevezys (3) v HJK Helsinki (0)
HJK to win
Well this was the big surprise last week. We tipped Helsinki to record a fairly comfortable win on the road and put themselves in pole position for progression to the second round.
The two sides are experiencing completely contrasting seasons, with HJK hoping to win a fifth successive league title and Panevezys struggling in their own defence and facing relegation, but they turned it on last week with one of the best results in their history.
The three-goal defeat leaves HJK with a lot of work to do in this second leg and while they did lose, they did dominate possessions and corners, while they also had more shots throughout the game. They should have enough to get the win on this occasion, but whether or not it will be enough to progress is up in the air.
