Erling Haaland Golden Boot Odds: 4/7 after Brighton absence
The midweek Premier League action drew to a close on Thursday evening when Brighton played host to Manchester City at the Amex.
The Manchester outfit cruised to a 4-0 victory on the day, moving them up to 2nd in the Premier League and one point off Arsenal with a game in hand. The result saw the Sky Blues’ title odds slashed to 2/5 ahead of the latest gameweek.
While it was a great match for Manchester City, Erling Haaland’s hopes of securing the Premier League Golden Boot for a second successive season were dealt a blow as the Norweigan missed the game due to injury.
2023/24 Premier League Golden Boot Odds
Despite missing out versus Brighton, Erling Haaland is still leading the betting market for the Premier League Golden Boot this term. However, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer remains firmly in the race, with the likes of Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanake also still in the running during the final month of the campaign.
- Erling Haaland - 4/7
- Cole Palmer - 10/3
- Ollie Watkins - 13/2
- Dominic Solanke - 14/1
- Mohamed Salah - 20/1
Leading Candidates to win the 2023/24 Premier League Golde Boot
Here is a look at some of the names towards the head of the Golden Boot betting market.
Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland has 20 goals in just 26 league appearances this term and is joint-top of the goalscoring charts with five games left to play. However, the hitman’s fitness issues during the course of the campaign have opened the door to the likes of Cole Palmer or Ollie Watkins taking the award from him at the end of 2023/24.
Haaland was missing from the squad that faced Brighton Thursday night as he continues to recover from a muscle injury following an early withdrawal during the Champions League second leg versus Real Madrid.
In a boost for those looking to back Haaland to win the Golden Boot this year, however, Pep Guardiola seemed to suggest post-Brighton that his star striker could return at the weekend: “I prefer to have Erling at my disposal than to have it [the squad without him]. I spoke with him, and he says he feels better, I don’t know.”

- Wolves (H) May 4
- Fulham (A) May 11
- Tottenham (A) May 14
- West Ham (H) May 19
Cole Palmer
Cole Palmer has been the surprise package of 2023/24 so far. The 21-year-old left Manchester City for Chelsea last summer in search of more regular first-team football and has been afforded that under Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine’s faith in Palmer has been rewarded in a major way, with the winger netting 20 goals in 28 Premier League outings - level at the top of the scoring charts with Erling Haaland despite primarily operating on the right-wing or as a no.10. His blank vs Arsenal on Tuesday did Palmer no favours in the race, but he still has plenty of chances to overtake Haaland in the coming weeks.
Chelsea’s remaining Premier League fixtures
- Aston Villa (A) April 27
- Tottenham (H) May 2
- West Ham (H) May 5
- Nottingham Forest (A) May 11
- Brighton (A) May 15
- Bournemouth (H) May 19
Ollie Watkins
Next up in the Golden Boot betting market is Aston Villa forward, Ollie Watkins. The Englishman has taken his game to a new level under the guidance of Unai Emery as the Midlands outfit battle for a Champions League place.
Watkins has been crucial to Villa’s success this term, finding the net 19 times across 33 Premier League outings. He remains one goal behind Haaland and Palmer in the leaderboard with fewer fixtures left this season, but a brace or two in the coming weeks could easily catapult the 28-year-old top of the list.
