Fury v Usyk Predictions: Joe Joyce Predicts Fury Win

We are counting down the days to the big fight this weekend, and the latest in our Fury v Usyk predictions series comes from Joe Joyce, who we say down with to talk boxing, and get his views on this weekend’s main event.

Alongside talking Fury v Usyk, Joyce talked us through his summer plans, and when we could see him in the ring next.

Fury v Usyk Predictions: Joe Joyce Predicts Fury Win

  • Hi Joe, what’s your prediction for Fury v Usyk?

I’m going with Fury. He’s got that height and reach advantage, but it’s very close.

Usyk is a very tricky fighter. He’s got great boxing brains. He’s got speed, he’s got toughness, he studies opponents well and he’s got great gameplay. It’s the best versus the best really.

A close fight, but I think Fury can raise the bar like he did against Klitschko.

  • Any news on upcoming plans?

There’s lot going on, bits and pieces behind the scenes. I’m ready to get back into camp now and I already know the rough day when I’m going to fight and kind of who I’m going to fight, so I just need to get back into camp and get back training again.

It’s not announced yet, still sorting the finer details but should be happening very soon.

  • We’ve seen the fighting landscape can change in an instant - is Anthony Joshua still on your radar?

If it happens, it’s up to Joshua. He’s the big man, lets see. He’s got big power, of late he’s been a lot more defensive and that big overhand right he’s been working on, I wouldn’t want to get hit by that, cleanly, anyway, but yeah it would be a good fight if it were to ever happen.

It would be North vs South London.

  • How much longer do you want to keep boxing? You’re fresh for a 38 year old.

I thought I’d be done by 35 when I was in the amateurs. But I’m past that now. Maybe until I’m 40, so another two years but then you never know. If the excitement, money, desire, fights are still there I could be still going past 40.

You need something that can still press those buttons and excite you. You have to do something with your life or it gets boring very quickly.
