I’ll be honest, I haven’t known whether to laugh or cry watching this IPL.
It hasn’t been the easiest one to predict, but that’s because there have been so many surprise results.
When sitting down to do some research pre-tournament, I was expecting both of these sides to struggle. Kolkata certainly haven’t, and Delhi have come with an impressive run.
In the end, I could be proved right about both yet. They may not reach the knockouts.
But they are in contention at this stage, and Delhi’s super run of four wins in their last five games has really given them belief.
Delhi now sit level on 10 points with Kolkata, who are second but have played nine and one game fewer.
I like the look of Delhi in this one - their recent form is much better, and I’m quite surprised they are 6/5 outsiders to win with William Hill despite the league standings.
Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Capitals Tips & Predictions
Runs, runs, runs
Amidst many of the surprises so far in this IPL, one thing that has been a solid cash returner for us has been backing high totals, of which there have been many.
And I think it will be the same again here. Delhi’s last three games have seen them post 199, 224-4 and 257-4, while Kolkata’s last three games have seen them rack up 223-6, 222-6 and 261-6.
Just before I get onto that, I like Ladbrokes boosted 15/8 on Delhi wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav to take two or more wickets in the match. He has taken 12 in seven so far in the competition, including hauls of four wickets and two wickets in his last three games.
Betfair have Delhi Capitals to win and both teams to score 180 totals on offer at 2/1.
I think that represents decent value, as I do the same firm’s 16/5 on a Delhi win, and both teams to score 190 totals.
JFM can cash in for us
We’re going to be hearing a heck of a lot about Australian batting tyro Jake Fraser-McGurk in the years to come. In fairness, we’re already hearing quite a bit about him now.
At the top of Delhi’s order, he has scored three fifties in five innings, including a remarkable 84 off 27 balls in Saturday’s high-scoring win over Mumbai.
The 22-year-old reached his fifty off only 15 balls.
Betway have Fraser-McGurk at 13/5 to score a fifty in the match - a price I would be taking.
Finally, two players I’ve highlighted for success in this match - Fraser-McGurk and Kuldeep Yadav - are combined in a Ladbrokes #GetAPrice long shot.
They are offering 9/1 on Fraser-McGurk to score a fifty, Yadav to take two wickets, and their captain Rishabh Pant to hit a six. He’s hit 23 of them so far in the competition.
That is surely worth having a couple of quid on.
