Leeds Championship Promotion Odds Shorten after Norwich Draw

Leeds’ odds to win the play-offs have shortened to 5/4 following their goalless draw in the opening semi-final against Norwich at Carrow Road.
The run of just two wins in their last eight league matches of the season meant Leeds, who had at one point been favourites to win the Championship outright and certainly gain automatic promotion, were behind Southampton in the betting for the play-offs.
While the Saints had also suffered a late season drop-off, it did not appear to be as terminal as at Leeds and their final-day win at Elland Road meant they went into the play-offs with the upper-hand having beaten the Peacocks twice this season.
However with both first legs finishing 0-0 and Leeds to some extent stopping the rot with a solid performance, those odds have shortened somewhat with only the home leg between them and a date at Wembley which could help put an end to the perceived Wembley hoodoo among Leeds fans.
While Southampton remain favourites with some bookies, Leeds are generally priced the same which means they have closed the gap after the weekend.

Leeds Play-Off Chances
Leeds are in a relatively decent position after the first leg, which ended in a goalless draw at Carrow Road in what was a game of few chances.
For Daniel Farke it was something of a considered approach to the tie, having seen his side ship nine goals in their last three matches and deciding to strengthen the midfield as a result, reducing Leeds’ attacking threat.
The draw obviously leaves the tie finely poised but Leeds will have home advantage, something which has proved a vital this season with 16 home wins this season but they have lost their last two at Elland Road and there will be some nerves in the stands come Thursday night - particularly given the trauma of the defeat to Derby at the same stage in 2019.
Leeds should fancy their chances of making Wembley, but they are then likely to face Southampton - who had been rated as favourites and similarly are level at 0-0 after the first away leg - who played well against Leeds this season.
The two sides are very evenly rated in the betting, so it could go right down to the wire.
