Leeds v Harrogate Match Preview
It might not be the game at the forefront of most people's minds this weekend, but Leeds v Harrogate is a great FA Cup third round tie.
As rivalries go, there isn't much between the two clubs and they compete annually in a pre-season friendly - highlighting the good-natured relationship between the two - but with roughly 20 miles separating the two grounds, there will undoubtedly be local pride to play for.
Curiously, a number of the current Leeds squad reside in Harrogate while the exact opposite can be said of Harrogate's side, so it has the makings of a classic cup encounter even if Leeds are strong favourites.
Had the tie been held at the EnviroVent Stadium it could potentially be a very tricky afternoon for Daniel Farke's side, but at Elland Road they should expect to see off their opponents with minimal fuss.
It even offers them the chance to rotate the squad, and there will be plenty of eyes on the performance of Karl Darlow in goal after Illan Meslier's horro-show against Hull, with the Welsh goalkeeper in with a chance of staking a claim for a permanent spot after Farke confirmed he would get a go on Saturday.
Harrogate are having a few issues of their own in League Two and were on a miserable run before winning at Barrow last time out, so I think it's fair for us to focus our attention on the home side this weekend, and another convincing win at home.
Goals have been in short supply for Town - they have scored 21 in 25 matches but scored just four in December - and with Leeds' dominance at home and solid defence, it should be a comfortable evening, even by FA Cup standards and Leeds' recent history with it.
The way Leeds play though under Farke, is they get a lead and they preserve it rather than chase the goals. I would expect them to take a first-half lead and then coast through the rest of the game, so a Leeds win and under 3.5 goals at 8/5 with Betway looks along the right lines.
My second tip focuses on Mateo Joseph, who has been a disappointment so far but I think still has the potential to strike a hot patch at some point this season.
He was one of the players who looked good against Harrogate in pre-season and maybe he will find this level more to his liking, so 4/1 for a brace for the Spain under-21 striker with Paddy Power is a good bet.
