- Xander Schauffele to win Gold - 6/1 with William Hill
- Alex Noren to be First Round leader - 30/1 with bet365
Before the mayhem of the FedEx Cup playoffs gets underway, there is a small matter of the Olympics to contend with.
Converging in Paris this week will be 60 of the world’s best male golfers in the game, and this stroke play competition, unlike most PGA Tour events, won’t incur a cut at the traditional halfway mark.
After originally descending into obscurity, golf was restored to the Olympic roster in 2016, and Justin Rose clinched golf in Rio, but he’s not in the field this time around.
That said, the Olympic course will be familiar (Le Golf National) which is a regular stopping point on the DP World Tour, and Europe stormed to a resounding victory when the Ryder Cup was staged there in 2018.
Team USA has the biggest contingent in the men’s competition, with four representatives, and there will inevitably be plenty of thrills and spills along the way.
To drum up excitement, I have divulged a couple of Olympic golf betting tips ahead of the first round on Thursday.

Men’s Olympic Golf Betting Tips
I have two tips for the Men’s Olympic Golf this week, alongside our best golf betting offers from the top online bookmakers.
Schauffele to enjoy another golden finish
It’s been quite the year so far for Xander Schauffele. Two majors safely stowed away, the American has been a picture of serenity on the golf course.
Previously, getting over the winning line was problematic for Schauffele, but having cracked the code, he has become a poster boy for the game, and taking a bit of the limelight away from his compatriot Scottie Scheffler.
Having had a bit of time off to reflect on his triumph at Royal Troon, Schauffele will have his sights set on defending his Tokyo Olympic title, and he is flourishing across many of the performance metrics this season, including SG: Total (2.201 across 53 rounds).
Minimal changes will have been implemented at Le Golf National from the Ryder Cup, but the greens should play quite firm.
Schauffele has racked up two wins, two runner-ups, and 12 top-10 finishes which underlines his strength, and I like the look of him to clinch gold again come the weekend.
A popular price of 6/1 has been served up at William Hill for you to sink your teeth into.
Alex Noren to charge out of the starting block
At times, Alex Noren seems to fly under the radar, but the Swede ought not to be underestimated.
This year, Noren has reaped the rewards of a solid season on the PGA Tour, producing three top-10 finishes and missing just three cuts from 18 appearances.
He’s been trending in the right direction, and his SG: Around the Green (0.422) makes for impressive reading, ranking seventh for that stat this term.
Noren is no stranger to success at Le Golf National, and he won the 2018 Open de France where he had to fend off a strong field that included Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia.
Not only that, but Noren was also a key cog for Team Europe in their Ryder Cup win six years ago, defeating Bryson DeChambeau in the singles.
In Tokyo, Noren finished T16, and while he may not be in contention for a medal come the weekend, he could set the tone in Round 1. A longish price of 30/1 is available at bet365 for Noren to lead after the opening day.
