After the surprise sacking of Ian Murray last weekend, Raith Rovers are in the market for a new manager, and there is no shortage of names being touted to land the hot seat at Starks Park.
Despite only losing out on promotion after a 6-1 aggregate defeat by Ross County, the Raith board dismissed Murray after just one match of the new season, stating that “results and performances since the turn of the year have fallen short of expectations.”
With an ambitious team in the boardroom at Starks Park, promotion to the Scottish Premiership will be the main target this term, and they will be keen to bring in a coach who can deliver that.

Leading Candidates to be the Next Raith Rovers Manager
Let’s look at some of the names towards the head of the betting market.
Darren O’Dea
O’Dea has been gaining significant experience in coaching within the Celtic youth system.
Since retiring as a player, he has progressed through the ranks, managing the under-18s before taking charge of the B team.
Currently the Professional Player Pathway Manager at Celtic Park, O’Dea has a deep understanding of Scottish youth football, and this could be the ideal opportunity to step up to first-team management.
The former defender has been heavily linked with the managerial role at Starks Park and is the current favourite with the bookmakers.
Scott Brown
Celtic legend Scott Brown is cutting his managerial teeth at fellow Championship side Ayr United after a short spell at Fleetwood.
Having taken the reins at Somerset Park only in January, some fans might see a swift move to Raith as premature.
Nevertheless, his playing experience and early steps into management make him an eyecatching potential candidate.
Tam Courts
Former Dundee United boss Tam Courts is also considered a potential candidate to replace Ian Murray.
His impressive track record, which includes guiding United to a fourth-place finish in the Scottish Premiership and European qualification, makes him an attractive option.
Given his extensive knowledge of the Scottish Championship, Raith Rovers may see him as an ideal fit for the role.
Initially the bookmakers favourite for the Raith job, his odds have lengthened slightly recently.
Peter Leven
Leven is a first-team coach with Aberdeen and did an excellent job in interim charge of the Dons before current boss Jimmy Thelin was appointed.
He guided Aberdeen to four wins in their last five Scottish Premiership matches, ending the season as the best of the bottom six sides.
Retained by new boss Thelin, Leven is well respected and highly regarded at Pittodrie but could be tempted to take a chance to become a manager in his own right.
