Next Raith Rovers Manager Odds: Tam Courts leads the betting

Raith Rovers are in the market for a new manager after unexpectedly sacking manager Ian Murray at the weekend, just one game into the new Scottish Championship season, despite him guiding the club to the play-off final two months ago.

The club stated that despite last season’s efforts, “results and performances since the turn of the year have fallen short of expectations.”

Rovers missed out on promotion in May after a 6-1 aggregate defeat by Ross County and started the new campaign with a 1-0 loss to Airdrie on Saturday.

Leading Candidates to be the Next Raith Rovers Manager

Let’s look at some of the names towards the head of the betting market.

Tam Courts

Courts has an excellent record, leading Dundee United to fourth place in the Scottish Premiership and a place in Europe and his knowledge of the Scottish Championship will surely attract Raith.

He left Tannadice in 2022 and subsequently joined Budapest Honved for a short spell, and he’s the current short-priced favourite to land the top job at Starks Park.

Scott Brown

Having established himself as a playing legend at Celtic, Scott Brown is currently the manager of fellow Championship side Ayr United.

However, Brown has only been in the hot seat at Somerset Park since January, so a move east to Kirkcaldy so soon could be seen as a risk by the Raith fans.

Rhys McCabe

Despite being only 32, McCabe is already making a big impression in the Scottish Championship with his Airdrie side, which is well-known for their attacking brand of football.

He was on the opposite bench on Saturday for what was Murray’s final game in charge and could be tempted to move to Fife with the offer of a larger budget to work with.

Darren O’Dea

Since retiring from playing, O’Dea has spent most of his coaching time at Celtic, taking charge of the under-18 side before stepping up to take over the B-side.

Currently the Professional Player Pathway Manager at Celtic Park, O’Dea has fantastic knowledge of Scottish youth football and may feel the time is right to take his first step into first-team coaching.
