Ricardo Pietreczko vs Nathan Aspinall – Over 5.5 sets
Despite calling Ricardo Pietreczko a “bit odd” in his post-match press conference on Saturday, Nathan Aspinall won’t be underestimating “Pikachu”.
The German ran to the quarter-finals of the European Championships this season, but other than that outing, and a drop to number 34 in the world, Pietreczko hasn’t really pulled up many trees in a season where he was expected to kick on.
Aspinall is a multi-TV-major winner and looks to have found his mojo on the oche again after a season blighted by injury.
Aspinall’s doubling troubling may let Pietreczko into this match, but the “Asp” should come through, even if it takes six or more sets.
Stephen Bunting to win & hit 9+ 180s vs Luke Woodhouse
Stephen Bunting looks like one of the most consistent performers at this year’s World Championship and with the #BuntingArmy behind him the St. Helens man will be confident in reaching his fourth quarter-final at the Ally Pally.
Luke Woodhouse is one of the new crop looking to make a splash in a TV major, but he was put through the ringer against Damon Heta in the third round and he’ll do well to pick himself up against the 8th seed.
Bunting in full flowing form is one of the best sights in north London and we’re tipping him to win this one at a relative canter, thanks to a bucket of maximums.
Luke Littler to beat Ryan Joyce 4-0
Luke Littler hasn’t quite hit the standards that we have become used to this season, so Ryan Joyce must be wary that the teenage sensation is going to kick into gear in his last match of 2024.
Relatively tame averages of 101 and 98 have seen Littler through dropping two sets so far, but he tends to grow into tournaments and this fourth round clash with Joyce looks a good time to make a statement.
Littler will usually be first to a double such is his power scoring, and if Joyce lets him have multiple stabs at checking out then this one could be over in a heartbeat.
