Spain will begin their quest for Euro 2024 glory when they tackle familiar faces Croatia in their opening Group B clash on Saturday afternoon at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Having won two of the past four European Championships, Spain would love to add another chapter to their illustrious history as they seek to land a record-breaking fourth title.

At the wheel is Luis de la Fuente, but he has a selection dilemma ahead of the Croatia clash, most notably whether to put in Marc Cucurella or Alex Grimaldo at left-back.

Croatia, meanwhile, who will have been buoyed by a recent 2-1 friendly win over Portugal. Indeed, Zlatko Dalic’s side are on a roll, having won their last six games in a row, but can they overcome Spain in this heavyweight battle?

We’ve looked at some of the best football betting offers, odds and markets from our range of football betting sites to provide you with Spain vs Croatia betting tips.

Spain v Croatia Match Preview

Spain to edge it in a nail-biter

Spain and Croatia have had a habit of running into each other at the Euros, and this will be the fourth time in a row they will be duking it out in this tournament.

Although Croatia have only lost one of their last six group games at the Euros, four of Spain’s last six games at the Euros have seen both teams net, with La Rioja averaging 3.16 goals per game during that period.

Apart from a 1-0 reverse at the hands of Colombia back in March, Spain have looked more clinical of late, and they can cut through teams like butter.

Croatia, of course, won’t wish to follow the script, and this could well be Luka Modric’s last dance on the international stage, so he will want to go out with a bang.

Interestingly, only one of the past six meetings between these two sides has ended goalless. Croatia don’t usually fire blanks, so I think it seems unlikely this match will end up as a stalemate.

Instead, I think Spain will prevail in what could be a nail-biter and to be on the safe side, I’ve gone with Spain to win and there to be Under 4.5 goals. Parimatch has advertised short odds of 23/20 for that outcome.

Rodri to pop up with a timely contribution

Alvaro Morata may have been in the firing line of late over a dip in performances, but with Spain, I feel the goals will be spread out over the Euros.

Yes, Morata is Spain’s all-time leading scorer at the Euros with six strikes at Euros finals, but there will be others that will be only too happy to contribute.

Rodri, for example, is a man for the big occasion, and we have seen him pop up with some vital goals in a City shirt. He also grabbed a double in a 3-3 friendly draw with Brazil a few months ago, and that included a penalty.

The midfielder is far from goal-shy, and to provide some value, I’m tempted by the 6/1 price stumped up by Paddy Power for Rodri to score anytime which shouldn’t be scoffed at.
