Joe Root made history at Lord’s with twin tons and will now be looking to end the summer in style as England face Sri Lanka in the third and final test at The Oval.

Joe Root confirmed his status as England’s greatest ever batter by posting his 34th Test century at Lord’s, where he reached three figures in both innings of a thumping win.
England, who will hand a debut to Leicestershire quick Josh Hull this week, have won all five summer Test Matches so far - against West Indies and Sri Lanka - and, in truth, have rarely been tested.
Only once in those five Tests has an opposing team posted a first-innings total above 300.
Mind you, England haven’t really convinced with the bat. Not once have they gone really big with the bat this summer. Twice they’ve topped 400, I’m talking a 450-500 total.
England certainly have that in them, and on that basis I’m going to suggest that bet365′s 7/2 on either team to win this final Test by an innings is worth consideration.
The 3/10 available on a straight England win is value-less.
A Pat on the back if this comes in
I quite like a couple of prices on success for Sri Lanka’s number three Pathum Nissanka.
Nissanka came into their side for the Lord’s Test and posted a couple of low scores, but he has a pretty impressive international record.
That’s more so in ODI cricket, where he’s scored six hundreds in 58 matches, including a best of 210. But he’s also scored five fifties and a hundred in 10 Tests.
I like Virgin Bet’s Evens on him to score over 20.5 runs in the first innings and also bet365′s 5/2 on him to score a fifty in the match - either innings will do.
England’s Harry Brook scored a century against the West Indies at Trent Bridge in July, but he hasn’t made the most of a number of starts around that.
In seven other innings, he’s reached 30 on six occasions with two fifties included.
I think he’s due a big score, therefore would be keen to take Betway’s 12/5 on him to score 75 in the first innings, available via their Players Props selections.
And why not finish off with William Hill’s 14/1 on Joe Root, Harry Brook and Sri Lankan veteran Angelo Mathews to all score a fifty in the first innings? That’s a pretty juicy price.
We all know the kind of form Root’s in, Brook - as we said - has shown glimpses and Mathews has been there and thereabouts for the visitors with scores of 65, 22 and 36 across the four innings.
If he can convert a start, we could be in business with that long shot.
