What a knock from Liam Livingstone!
After West Indies threatened them with 328-6, England were under the pump further at 107-3 in the 21st over when their captain strode to the crease.
He later shared a fifth-wicket partnership of 140 with Sam Curran, who made a crucial run-a-ball 52. But it was Livingstone’s power that turned this game around.
Livingstone finished unbeaten on 124 off 85 balls, and only scored 42 off his first 50 balls, scoring 82 off his last 35 to ensure victory with 2.3 overs remaining.
Now, England have to capitalise. Despite missing many a star player, they still have enough quality to get the better of their hosts. But inconsistency has been a killer.
Though, I tipped a 2-1 England win before a ball was bowled and am confident they can finish the job. I would be taking the 4/5 on them to win in beautiful Bridgetown, where they should be backed by a decent travelling contingent.
Livingstone on a hot streak
Since the start of September, including a quarter-final Blast appearance for Lancashire, Liam Livingstone has been sensational. In his last 10 innings across T20 and 50-over cricket, he has posted scores of 43, 37, 87, 33 not out, 62 not out, 48 and 124 not out.
I like the look of 5/4 with betway - via their Pre-Built Bets section - on England to win and Livingstone to hit one six. He has hit 11 in two matches in this series so far.
West Indian new ball quick Matthew Forde is the leading wicket-taker in the series with five in two outings, so bet365’s 13/8 on him to take two or more wickets in this match is worth consideration. He also bowls at the death, which is important for such a punt.
I’m going to return to an old faithful in Phil Salt and suggest he can back up the 59 he scored in victory in Antigua on Saturday. Wicketkeeper-opener Salt has had a frustrating couple of months. He has got in plenty of times without being able to go on.
In his last nine internationals, dating back to September against Australia, he has reached double figures in eight of those, yet Saturday was his first fifty in that run.
I’m confident it can be a case of the London Bus Syndrome for Salt - you wait ages for one to come and then two come along at once.
Betano are offering 11/5 on him to score a fifty on the island where he lived as a youngster.
And I also like betfair’s 9/2 #OddsOnThat selection to finish. That’s for an England win, them to hit most fours in the match but the West Indies to hit most sixes. The latter two combinations have happened in the opening two fixtures of the series.
