World Matchplay Darts Betting Tips
Ross Smith vs Josh Rock – Over 17.5 legs at at 6/4 with bet365
It’s hard to pick a winner between these two.
Only four men separate them in the world rankings, and you could argue each player has strengths in different areas coming into Sunday’s game.
Ross Smith is a former ranking title winner having bagged the European Championship in 2022, whereas Josh Rock is the young man on the tour tipped to push into the top 16 sooner rather than later.
Rock has disappointed in the big ticket events so far in his career – barring a quarter-final run at the Grand Slam of Darts last year – but if he can get some consistency going, then there is no reason why he can’t reach the same round at the Matchplay.
In a game that is going to be hard to split, a 10-8 or 10-9 either way looks to be the call.
Stephen Bunting vs Ryan Joyce – Bunting to win match and most 100+ checkouts at 9/4 with bet365
“The Bullet” Stephen Bunting has an awful record at the Matchplay.
Bunting has been to the Winter Gardens nine times and been dumped out at the first hurdle on seven occasions.
But he is a seeded player this year and is riding high after bagging the title at the Dutch Darts Championship at the end of May.
Ryan Joyce is a bit of an unknown in Blackpool. He has failed to qualify the last three seasons and the feeling is that he will be overwhelmed by Bunting’s consistent 180 hitting.
9/4 that Bunting nails the most 100+ checkouts alongside a match win looks good.
Joe Cullen to beat Brendan Dolan at 10/11 with bet365
Joe Cullen at close to Evens to win a first round match at the Matchplay should be jumped on.
Sure, the “Rockstar” isn’t enjoying the best form of his career at the moment, but the world number 15 reached the semi-final here last season and still has the Masters trophy from 2022 sparkling in his trophy cabinet.
Brendan Dolan is a veteran on the circuit and won’t be phased by his 10th Matchplay.
The Northern Irishman hasn’t got past the second round before and aside from a quarter-final run at the World Championship earlier this year, hasn’t really competed in the biggest events on the PDC Tour.
Cullen at 10/11 to win the race to 10.
