Melbourne Renegades v Brisbane Heat Betting Tips
While the Renegades finished third in the table to earn the right to host this tie, I fancy the Heat to continue what has been an excellent run of recent form, including an Eliminator win over Sydney Thunder yesterday.
They got a touch fortunate with the weather, as rain curtailed Sydney’s promising chase of 204 when they were 52-1 after 6.5 overs. But their performance with the bat was outstanding in posting 203-5.
Unibet have them at 19/20 to win for the sixth time in their last seven matches. I would be taking that.
In the first half of the competition, the Renegades won both group fixtures against the Brisbane boys, but I expect them to gain revenge.
Momentum is so important in T20 cricket, and they have that in bucket loads.
For me, they also have a better balanced side and more star quality with the likes of Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Matt Renshaw and Michael Neser. The first three are available for the final time prior to Australia’s Test tour of India.
The six count between these two sides is pretty close through the tournament. Melbourne have hit 78 to Brisbane’s 76, the latter playing one more game.
But given I expect the Queensland side to come out on top, and on the back of a strong batting performance yesterday when they cleared the rope eight times, I would be keen take a 11/8 shot with 888 Sport on the Heat to win the most sixes in the match market.
Carry on Khawaja
What an innings that was from Usman Khawaja against the Thunder yesterday; 94 off 55 balls at the top of the order with 10 fours and three sixes.
He earned a couple of winners, including an 8/1 shot on him to be player of the match.
I’ll be honest, I see no reason to divert away from the classy left-hander, and there are two bets I like here.
The first is another Bet365 price. They are offering 11/4 on Khawaja to score another fifty.
The second is the 4/1 Betfair have on Khawaja to sign off for Test duty by top-scoring for the Heat and them winning the match.
Let me Harp on about Sam
Sam Harper, the Melbourne Renegades’ pocket rocket wicketkeeper-batter, has had a funny old tournament with the bat.
Either side of three half-centuries in a row through the middle of the tournament, when he look fantastic at number three, he’s hardly scored a run, with a string of single-figure scores.
He is currently on a three-game run of scoring one, three and eight.
But he’s a fine player, no doubt. And I quite like Bet365′s 4/1 on him to be his side’s top batter in this fixture.
He mixes power with finesse - he whacks it long over mid-wicket and plays the scoops and ramps.
