I have packed my passport and made four telling picks with bet365.
- Real Betis vs Barcelona – Away win and Over 2.5 goals
- Fiorentina vs Torino – Home win and Under 2.5 goals
- Mainz vs Bayern Munich – Away win
- Montpellier vs Paris Saint-Germain – Away win
- Total odds 17/1
Real Betis vs Barcelona – Away win & Over 2.5 goals @6/4
Barcelona have been on a roll under Xavi. They have allied scoring goals with keeping things watertight at the back, and the Catalan giants have kept four clean sheets in their past four matches in all competitions.
Against Girona last weekend, Barcelona were forced to be plucky as they ground out a 1-0 win thanks to a Pedri strike just after the half hour mark.
Real Betis pushed Barca hard when the sides met a couple of weeks ago in the Super Cup, but Xavi’s charges who are undefeated on the road this season in La Liga should run out comfortable winners and my first pick could see the Over 2.5 goals section hit as that has been the case in past three of their past four league clashes.
Fiorentina vs Torino – Home win & Under 2.5 goals @3/1
Just over a week ago, Torino stunned Fiorentina when they clinched a 1-0 victory in Serie A. But attentions turn to the Coppa Italia and the quarter-finals, and with the prospect of silverware inching closer, this game could play out rather differently.
When the sides last met in the Coppa Italia four years ago, Fiorentina ran out 2-0 winners thanks to a late double from Federico Chiesa.
However, Fiorentina will take heart from their 1-1 draw last weekend against Lazio, and they could nick this one. Judging by how few goals either side have scored of late, La Viola could move into the semi-finals with Under 2.5 goals netted across the 90 minutes.
Mainz v Bayern Munich – Away win @4/9
While there is no need to press the panic button yet, Bayern have struggled to find the winning formula and three draws in a row (all 1-1) has blown the Bundesliga title race wide open.
But Bayern will want to ensure they don’t chuck away a chance of domestic success in the DBF Porkal Cup when they face Mainz, who are coming off the back of a 5-2 win over Bochum.
Julian Nagelsmann will have rallied his troops, and he will be hoping they kick back into gear and find their groove again. Bayern thrashed Mainz 6-2 earlier in the season, and an away win could be on the cards which is my third pick.
Montpellier v Paris Saint-Germain – Away win @3/10
Since the turn of the year, Paris Saint-Germain have only won once in the league, and in being held to a draw at home to Reims, they relinquished the chance to go five points clear at the top of Ligue 1.
More intriguingly, Folarin Bolagun’s equaliser in the 95th minute for Reims was the latest goal that PSG have conceded in France’s top-flight division since the 2006/07 campaign.
Montpellier’s form has been mixed of late, with two wins from their past five matches, and they have found it hard to crack PSG, conceding 11 times in their past three league encounters.
This is a critical month for PSG with a Champions League tie against Bayern Munich on the horizon, and they should collect all three points on the road.
