If you fancy some League One action on Sunday, then we have four of very best final day bets to whet your appetite.

Posh Pushed Out

The first of our four clashes takes us to Oakwell, as Barnsley, who are guaranteed a top-six finish, play host to a Peterborough side who are desperately hoping to snatch a playoff berth on the final day of the season.

The Posh find themselves needing a win to have any hope of surpassing Derby in sixth. Anything less than a maximum on Sunday would mean Derby keep hold of the coveted position that they currently are in possession of.

Although Barnsley have technically nothing to play for at the weekend, they will want to end the regular season strongly before two likely playoff meetings with Bolton and therefore, I am backing the home win at odds of 8/5.

The Perfect Opposition

Next up we go to the bottom end of the table and the first of two teams that are aiming to claw themselves out of the relegation zone. The first of those is none other than Cambridge and they need to convert their current 22nd position in 20th by the end of Sunday afternoon.

Thankfully for them though, they are paired with arguably the most perfect opposition possible. With an already relegated Forest Green making the long trip to East Anglia, the hosts know that nothing less than three points will do.

Especially when you consider that Duncan Ferguson’s men have failed to win any of their last seven and although they would love a League One last hurrah, a home win at odds of 4/9 seems a smart second selection.

Final Day Drama

Now we are off to St James’ Park and the second of two teams who are looking to drag themselves out of the relegation zone. The other outfit is Morecambe, they have to convert 21st place into 20th and are hitting form at just the right time.

In fairness to Derek Adams’ men, they were looking like a rather lost cause just a month or so ago. Second bottom with just five games remaining and all but joining Forest Green in next season’s League Two.

However, the Shrimps have picked up 10 points from the last 12 on offer – also winning their last three and with Exeter in the confines of midtable, I have a hunch that some dropzone drama is going to unfold. This means, the away win is being backed at odds of 17/10.

Clinching The Title

While my final pick takes me to the top of the table, as Port Vale play host to Plymouth. The visitors may have secured promotion to the Championship last weekend and now they will look to secure the League One crown as well.

To do so, all they need to do is match Ipswich’s result. Whatever the Tractor Boys do, the parallel for Plymouth will see them secure top spot. Although to make things more interesting, the fixture computer has been rather kind to Kieran Mckenna’s men as well.

Ipswich find themselves travelling to Fleetwood on Sunday and the only thing that you can envisage there is an away win. Due to this, it will serve to give Plymouth their own additional impetus and therefore, the away win at odds of 3/4 is also going on my betting slip.
