Scottish Championship, League One & League Two Season Predictions & Betting Tips

We have 10/1, 8/1 and 9/2 tips across the three lower leagues in Scotland

The domestic game has already returned in Scotland with the group stages of the League Cup, but Saturday sees the return of the action in all four Scottish divisions.

And after an enthralling 2021-22 season, we look forward to what the season 2022-23 is likely to bring in the Scottish Championship, League One and League Two.

Scottish Championship

Like its English counterpart, the Scottish Championship is potentially the most competitive division in the country, with ten teams battling it out for one guaranteed promotion spot to the Scottish Premiership.

Heading the betting this season are Dundee, who are aiming to bounce back to the top tier following their relegation last term, and they have a new man in charge - Gary Bowyer.

They’re unlikely to have it all their own way, though, with a strong challenge expected from Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Partick Thistle and Arbroath.

Inverness fell at the final stage last season, losing out to St Johnstone in a two-legged play-off, and they’ll fancy their chances of pushing Dundee for the top spot this time around.

Partick nabbed a play-off spot last season, and they should be in the mix once more, but at the prices, it could be worth taking another chance on Arbroath.

The Lichties pushed Kilmarnock all the way last season, finishing 2nd by just two points before being beaten by Inverness in the play-off semi-final.

And they’ve started this season strongly, winning all four of their League Cup matches, including defeating St Mirren, scoring 10 goals in the process and conceding just one.

They’re tough to beat at home, and at odds of 10/1, they look an excellent each-way bet for the season.

And it will also be interesting to see how Cove Rangers find life in the Scottish Championship, having been playing in the Highland League as recently as 2019.

They cantered to the League One title with their strike force of Mitch Megginson and Rory McAlister scoring 34 goals between them, and they should be good for plenty of goals this season.

Scottish League One

Scottish League One is also ultra-competitive this season, with Dunfermline and Falkirk heading the betting.

Both clubs have struggled in recent seasons, but with Queen of the South, Airdrie, and newly promoted Kelty Hearts also fancying their chances, it could be a battle-royal for the one guaranteed promotion spot.

Dunfermline had a strong squad that under-performed for the most part last season but having brought in ex-Dundee boss James McPake, there are signs that the Pars could be a force this time.

At odds of 3/1, they’re a decent bet to lift the title, but 8/1 on Airdrie could be slightly better value with three places being paid.

They finished 2nd last season behind Cove Rangers, losing out to Queens Park in the play-off final, but they’ve looked strong in the League Cup and have lost just once at home since November.

Scottish League Two

Having edged out Cowdenbeath in the pyramid play-off, Lowland League side, Bonnyrigg Rose now face life in Scottish League Two and the bookies fancy it to be a short stay - they’re the current favourites to lift the title.

And teams coming up from the Highland and Lowland Leagues do have a strong record recently, including Kelty Hearts, who were promoted last season after their first campaign in League Two.

However, Bonnyrigg at 3/1 look plenty short in the betting, and at the odds, Annan could be worth a punt.

They finished 3rd last season, faltering baldy on the run-in, but they’ve started this season strongly, qualifying for the last 16 of the League Cup, having topped their group.

They have brought in striker Tommy Goss from Queen of the South over the summer, and the big striker can cause League Two defences all sorts of problems this season.

At odds of 9/2, Annan look like a strong bet for the campaign ahead.
